Hypnosis for Depressive Disorders
There are a lot of people who suffer from depression. Unfortunately there are not a lot of options when it comes to cures for depression. For the most part you are going to be limited to medications that deal with the symptoms. There are few options that get to the root cause of the depression. However there are some doctors who are getting good results using hypnosis for depression. This may be worth a try to cure your depression. The use of hypnosis for depression is a fairly new treatment. The reason is that it has largely been believed that you couldn't cure depression without medication. Depression is an actual illness in which there is a physiological cause. The thought was that hypnosis was only effective for dealing with conditions that were psychological and not physical. However this has changed in recent years, it is now well established that the body can heal itself under the correct conditions. The idea is that hypnosis can be used to create the proper conditions to cure depression. So far the results of this have been quite good. There are a lot of people who have a hard time taking the idea of using hypnosis to treat medical conditions seriously. The reason for this is that they don't really understand hypnosis. For a lot of people their only experience of hypnosis is what they see on television. Not surprisingly this is hardly a realistic portrayal of how it really works. What you are actually doing when you are hypnotized is letting yourself be put into a state of deep focus which will allow you to be very open to suggestion. Then you just need to have somebody tell you the things that you want your brain to believe. There are some people who are under the impression that they can't be hypnotized and this is why they don't use hypnosis for depression. In reality there are very few people who can't be hypnotized. If you don't want to be hypnotized it will be impossible to hypnotize you. It isn't mind control you have to be a willing participant. However if you are willing to allow it there is a pretty good chance that it will in fact be possible to hypnotize you.If you are going to use hypnosis for depression you are going to want to make sure that you talk about it with your doctor. The main reason that you would do this is so that your treatment is coordinated. In addition your doctor may be able to recommend somebody who can help you. If not you will need to find somebody on your own. You are going to want to make sure that you find somebody who has experience treating depression with hypnosis. You will probably be better off if you go with a mental health practitioner who uses hypnosis as part of his practice rather than somebody who only knows about hypnosis. This will ensure that he knows about treating depression.Find more tips about: Hypnosis for Depression

Hypnosis For Weight Loss Without Surgery

Hypnosis for Medical IV's and Needles and Blood Draws
Working in the medical world, I get to see many situations where simple, easy, hypnosis could be used. There are everyday medical procedures that frighten many patients. Such as getting your blood taken or even getting a shot. Some patients get so frightened that they actually can faint. Sometimes people actually get so frightened that their veins constrict and get smaller, therefore, making it even more difficult to start an I.V. line. Some people will never go to a doctor because of this fear. Hypnosis affords a simple perfect solution to this problem that you can carry with you anywhere.I.V. 's are a way to administer fluids and/or medications directly into the circulatory system. Hypnosis can help to alleviate or take away the discomfort and the fear. Injections are simply a way to get your body to slowly absorb various medications. Here are some simple hypnotic techniques that anyone can learn.Simple dissociation technique works well in these situations. Just imagine being in a safe place real or imagined. Make it as real as possible. See what you would see, hear what you would hear, taste what you would taste. The idea is to make it as real as possible. Some other visualizations that work can be that the patient can "picture and imagine" a thick gel pad covering the arm. It becomes thicker and thicker. So thick, that nothing can be felt underneath the pad.Another visualization to use is simply going into self-hypnosis and imagine having the arm get numb. You will be able to feel them working, maybe a little discomfort but nothing will bother you. Some people respond well to the idea of having an "empty sleeve" so that they do not even know there is an arm there. For blood draws, one may want to add the visualization of the veins dilating filling up with blood pumping to the surface. Or imagine floating in a warm bathtub and you veins just feeling the heat of the warm water. What you may find that will happen is that the veins will dilate just by the pure visualization of the warm water. For needles, practice getting so relaxed that your arm feels as if it is not a part of your body. Because of your powerful mind, you have the ability to turn off the sensation in an arm, a leg, anywhere on your body. Just like a switching station, you can shut off the feeling of the hand or the arm or whatever part you want.If you have a fear from a previous incident as a child, hypnosis is the perfect solution to releasing that old emotions. You may want to schedule an appointment with a medical hypnotist who specializes in this area. I know that I work with patients even by phone or Skype if they can't come into the office. Sometimes, I even go into the hospital setting.

Making Your Choice on Hypnosis Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy Hypnosis is a great debate that has existed for almost as long as the concept of hypnosis. Those who choose hypnosis hypnotherapy smoother may end up paying more for the service, however, treatment may last longer and, finally, the results can be more satisfying. Before jumping to conclusions about hypnosis and hypnotherapy, the two concepts can be fully understood.
Hypnosis Hypnotherapy debate start somewhere and it makes sense to start with the fundamentals of understanding of each concept. First, you can define. Hypnosis is when placed in a state of relaxation that allows the mind open to suggestions more easily.
Who exactly is giving the proposal depends on whether you are under regular treatment or hypnotherapy. With regular treatment, is a hypnotist who may or may not have formal training in general to give instructions. For purposes of therapy, this may be a little tricky.
The debate heats up when you start talking about the issue hypnotherapy clinic. Hypnotherapy is a therapy that takes place in a large-scale treatment. Hypnotherapy Hypnosis is led by someone who has extensive training and is a qualified professional who has spent many years learning and perfecting his craft.
Those hypnotherapists have undergone rigorous training and are generally accepted in the same league as doctors and nurses. They also have a code of ethics they must follow. This is the main difference in the debate who actually performs this type of therapy, and what training do they have?
Debates hypnosis hypnotherapy can last long, but the choice is the patient. This option is for patients to choose a hypnotist who is more educated on the subject or not.
In the long run, a hypnotist cooler probably more of their time over someone who took a quick course for a few weeks to learn how to hypnotize people. However, a clinical hypnotherapist more than likely a better choice over the long term and results will be more effective.
One thing to remember is that the free will of a person, not to manipulate the conversation, or do self-hypnosis.
Hypnosis For Healing Is Very Powerful - The Ultra Deep Hypnosis Technique Is Even More Effective
Hypnosis can and has been frequently used for healing for thousands of years. It can be used for any healing situation you can imagine. If you need pain relief, self-healing, self-improvement or one of a thousand different things, hypnosis could be your answer. It is ideal for almost any physical, mental, emotional or even spiritual situations that may be bothering you.It needs to be understood that it is your own subconscious that does the work that makes hypnosis for healing effective. It is not the hypnotherapist, the power comes from within you. He or she can only suggest and help you achieve your desired goals and only with your permission. The hypnotist is there to protect you and guide you to your ultimate goal. There are several branches of hypnotherapy and one is a special hypnotic procedure known as Ultra Depth Hypnosis. This guides you at your own pace into the most profound depth of consciousness and awareness possible. It is called the Sichort State. The only level of depth beyond the Sichort State is natural deep sleep. When practising to reach the Sichort State, you must first achieve profound somnambulism which is.a sleep-like state or trance often associated with sleepwalking. This is then anchored by a key or signal word which is later used as an instant induction. Then another key or signal word is anchored to be used to emerge you from this state. Next you will achieve the Esdaile State and this is tested by catatonic responses and is anchored in by a different key or signal word. Finally you reach the Sichort State and this is linked in with yet a further key or signal word. This is what is called the, staging process and this is where you are taught how to use your keywords on their own. This process enables you to instantly induce analgesia, local or general anesthesia.

How To Hypnotize People Without Them Knowing It
There are a few forms of hypnosis. It is one thing to learn how to hypnotize people while they are aware that you're doing it. This can be done in order to pursue a career in clinical hypnotherapy or to perform casual hypnosis for friends and relatives. An entirely different, and all together more difficult thing to do, is to learn how to hypnotize somone without him or her even knowing it. This is a powerful tool as this ability can be used to achieve many goals such as:
Getting more sales Getting your boss to like you more and promote you faster Getting more dates and being able to seduce them without trouble Getting people to agree with whatever you say and want Make more money Many more. I'm sure you can imagine some things. The practice of hypnotizing people without them knowing it is known as covert hypnosis. What is amazing is the extent of the control someone who is proficient in covert hypnosis can exert upon other people, all without leaving a trace. How Is This Done And How Can You Learn This? Covert hypnosis is done by becoming a master at conversational hypnosis, the art of hypnotizing the person or persons with whom you're speaking with. By using certain power words, suggestive phrases, inflection, tone of voice, intonation, and facial expressions, you can create a powerful suggestive message which will be implanted in the psyche of the person you're speaking with. By inserting this message to his or her mind, he or she will be sure that it was a thought they had come up with themselves. You can learn to control Covert Hypnosis by getting an online training program and learning how to do this at home. This is by far the most affordable method, and it is highly effective. There are 2 excellent programs on the internet today: The Conversational Hypnosis and The Underground Hypnosis program. Either of these 2 programmes can teach you how to hypnotize people secretly and basically get them to do what you want. You can read about Conversational Hypnosis on this website: Conversational Hypnosis and a comparison between the two programs on one of the links below.Remember that Covert Hypnosis is a powerful tool. Use it wisely.
A History of Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy
Hypnosis, the oldest form of psychotherapy (Ellenberger, 1970) If we examine the religious and healing ceremonies of primitive people we can find the basic elements required to induce the hypnotic trance. It is possible from this to extrapolate that these ceremonial behaviors existed before written histories and that the use of rhythmic chanting, monotonous drum beats, together with strained fixations of the eyes accompanied by catalepsy of the rest of the body are of their selves trance inductions. If we accept this hypothesis, we might deduce that hypnosis as we call it existed as a method of accessing the unconscious and allowing the unconscious to help the conscious achieve the changes and benefits desired, as long as we have wanted to change our behavior. These behaviors would not have been called hypnosis, although hypnotic in behavior until Braid in 1842.The oldest written record of cures by 'hypnosis' was obtained from the Ebers Papyrus which gives us an idea about some of the theory and practice of Egyptian medicine before 1552 BC. In the Ebers Papyrus, a treatment was described in which the physician placed his hands on the head of the patient and claiming superhuman therapeutic powers gave forth with strange remedial utterances which were suggested to the patients and which resulted in cures. Both the Greeks and the Romans followed the practices of inducing sleep or relaxation state, Hippocrates, discussed the phenomenon saying, "the affliction suffered by the body, the soul sees quite well with the eyes shut." Unfortunately early Christianity saw the practice as being unholy and linked with non Christian and banned religious practices and ultimately witchcraft. In the 18th century the most influential figure in the development of hypnosis was Dr Frantz Anton Mesmer (1734-1815), an Austrian physician who used magnets and metal frames to perform "passes" over the patient to remove "blockages" (as he saw them the causes of diseases) in the magnetic forces in the body and to induce a trance-like state. In 1775 he discovered that he could reach equally successful results by passing his hands over the patient, this he would do for hours at times and he named this method "animal magnetism". In 1784, the Marquis de Puysegur a student of Dr Mesmer, discovered how to lead a client in to a deep trance state called "somnambulism", using relaxation and calming techniques. The term "somnambulism" is still widely used among hypnotherapists today in reference to a deep hypnotic trance state and sleep-walking. This technique was used for many following decades by surgeons in France including Dr. Recamier who performed the first recorded operation without anesthesia in 1821. The Marquis de Puysegur described three cardinal features of this deep trance state or somnambulism. These were: Concentration of the senses on the operator, Acceptance of suggestion from the therapist, Amnesia for events in a trance. Over two hundred years later these three theories of Puysegur still stand. These uses of mesmerism to facilitate pain free medical procedures were most famously employed by John Elliotson (1791 - 1868) in England and James Esdaile (1808 - 1859) in India. In 1841 a Scottish optometrist, Dr James Braid (1775 - 1860) discovered by accident that a person fixating on an object could easily reach a trance state without the help of the mesmeric passes advocated by Dr Mesmer. He published his findings, refuted Mesmer's work and inaccurately named his discovery "hypnotism" based on the Greek word "Hypnos" which means "sleep". This was an unfortunately choice as hypnosis is not sleep, however the name has remained and mesmerism became hypnotism.
During Braid's research into hypnosis he formed the following ideas, most of which still stand today:1) That in skilled hands there is no great danger associated with hypnotic treatment and neither is there pain or discomfort.2) That a good deal more study and research would be necessary to thoroughly understand a number of theoretical concepts regarding hypnosis.3) That hypnosis is a powerful tool which should be limited entirely to trained professionals.4) That although hypnotism was capable of curing many diseases for which there had formally been no remedy, it nevertheless was no panacea and was only a medical tool which should be used in combination with other medical information, drugs, remedies, etc., in order to properly treat the patient.Auguste Ambrose Liebeault (1823 - 1904), and Hippolyte Bernheim (1840 - l919) founded the 'Nancy School', which was of great significance in the establishment of a hypnotherapy acceptable in many quarters. Liebeault is often described as a 'simple country doctor', but by offering to treat the peasants of Nancy without charge, he was able to amass a considerable experience and expertise with hypnosis. His first study of hypnosis began in 1860. In 1882 he obtained a cure for sciatica in a patient long treated without success by others.Bernheim was a fashionable doctor in Paris, who began making regular visits to Nancy, and the two men became good friends and colleagues. Bernheim published the first part of his book, De la Suggestion, in 1884. The second part, La Therapeutic Suggestive, followed in 1886. The publication of these two books raised interest in Liebeault's own book which had been published twenty years earlier and which at the time had only sold one copy.In 1882 Jean-Martin Charcot (1835-1893) presented his findings on hypnotism to the French Academy of Sciences. Charcot believed that hypnosis was essentially hysteria and, being a neurologist, he was listened to. However Charcot had obtained much of his knowledge of hypnotism from his work with twelve hysterics at the Saltpetriere, and most of his conclusions on the subject was based on that tiny sample. The Nancy school opposed Charcot's conclusion and won acceptance of hypnosis as an essentially normal consequence of suggestion.Pierre Marie Félix Janet (1859 - 1947) a French neurologist and psychologist studied under Jean-Martin Charcot at the Psychological Laboratory in Pitié- Salpêtrière Hospital, in Paris. In several ways, he preceded Sigmund Freud. Many consider Janet, rather than Freud, the true founder of psychoanalysis and psychotherapy. He first published the results of his research in his philosophy thesis in 1889 and in his medical thesis, L'état mental des hystériques, in 1892. He was one of the first persons to draw a connection between earlier events in the subject's life and their present day trauma, and coined the words 'dissociation' and ''subconscious's'. It was he who was largely responsible for the 'dissociation' theory of hypnosis. This initially opposed to the use of hypnosis until he discovered its relaxing effects and promotion of healing. In 1898 Janet was appointed lecturer in psychology at the Sorbonne, and in 1902 he attained the chair of experimental and comparative psychology at the Collège de France, a position he held until 1936. He was a member of the Institut de France from 1913. In 1923 he wrote a definitive text, La médecine psychologique, on suggestion and in 1928-32, he published several definitive papers on memory. Whilst he did not publish much in English, his Harvard University lectures in 1908 were published as The Major Symptoms of Hysteria and he received an honorary doctorate from Harvard in 1936.Josef Breuer (1842 - 1925) was an Austrian physician, born in Vienna whose works lay the foundation of psychoanalysis. He graduated from the Akademisches Gymnasium of Vienna in 1858 and then studied at the university for one year, before enrolling in the medical school of the University of Vienna. He passed his medical exams in 1867 and went to work as assistant to the internist Johann Oppolzer at the university. Josef Breuer discovered that, while hypnotised, some people could recall past events which seemed to help cure ailments they may have. He called this a "talking cure". This was put to use by the German army in the First World War who treated shell shock through hypnosis.Sigmund Freud (1856-1939), the father of psycho-analysis, used hypnosis in his early work but became disillusioned by the concept. There is a belief that he did not have the patience necessary for hypnosis and was not a good hypnotist. He became involved in hypnosis between1883-1887 and practiced for some time and in 1885 Freud spent some time with Charcot, and was very impressed. He also translated into German Bernheim's De la Suggestion. In Vienna, Freud and his friend Joseph Breuer used hypnosis successfully in psychotherapy and in 1895, they produced their classic 'Studies in Hysteria' Freud had visited Nancy in 1889, and this visit had convinced him of the 'powerful mental processes which nevertheless remain hidden from the consciousness of men'. He discovered the 'positive transference' when a female patient he had awakened from hypnosis threw her arms around his neck. On this Freud wrote 'I was modest enough not to attribute the event to my own irresistible personal attraction, and I felt that I had now grasped the nature of the mysterious element that was at work behind hypnotism'.Later however, he was to abandon hypnosis saying that it was ineffective, and concentrated on developing psychoanalysis. He focused his attention on analysis and free association, this "defection" was damaging to hypnosis particularly in the context of psychology as it created enduring prejudices and misconceptions which have only started to fade in recent times. With the development of psychoanalysis and the use of anesthetics, the interest in hypnosis declined.Another precursor of modern hypnosis and self development was Dr. Emile Coué (1857 - 1926) who, at the end of the 19th century, was a believer in auto-suggestion and in the role of the hypnotist as a facilitator of change and healing by involving the total participation of the client in the hypnosis process. By 1887 Coué was developing the theory of auto-suggestion, which is perhaps the first time ego-strengthening (a mainstay of traditional occult and shamanistic practices) was used by the modern scientific community. He believed in the importance of the imagination in directing the will of the person, and performed experiments to study how making suggestions to people changed their actions. His well known self-help statement: "Day by day in every way I am getting better and better", is still used in most self-improvement therapies.1. Coue's Laws of Suggestion: The Law of Concentrated Attention - "Whenever attention is concentrated on an idea over and over again, it spontaneously tends to realize itself"
2. The Law of Reverse Action - "The harder one tries to do something, the less chance one has of success"
3. The Law of Dominant Effect - "A stronger emotion tends to replace a weaker one"Coue believed that he did not heal people himself but merely facilitated their own self-healing and he understood the importance of the subject's participation in hypnosis, a forerunner of the belief that 'There is no such thing as hypnosis, only self-hypnosis.' Perhaps his most famous idea was that the imagination is always more powerful than the will. For example, if you ask someone to walk along a plank of wood on the floor, they can usually do it without wobbling. However, if you tell them to close their eyes and imagine the plank is suspended between two buildings hundreds of feet above the ground, they will always start to sway. It could be said that Coue also anticipated the placebo effect; a treatment of no intrinsic value, the power of which lies in suggestion (patients are told that they are being given a drug that will cure them).Dr. Oskar Vogt developed the induction method of fractionation, and one of his students, Johannes Schultz, was later to introduce Autogenic Training considered by many to be a form of auto-hypnosis.Ivan P. Pavlov (1849 - 1936), a Russian scientist, worked on the concepts and mechanisms of hypnosis. He is best known for his discovery of the conditioned reflex, known the Pavlovian Response. After World War 1, hypnosis and its therapeutic uses experienced a revival when psychiatrists realized that soldiers suffering traumas such as paralysis and amnesia, of a psychological rather than physical origin, responded well to hypnosis and were rapidly cured.Milton Erickson (1932-1974) was a psychologist and psychiatrist who pioneered the art of indirect suggestion in hypnosis. He is considered by many to be the father of modern hypnosis. His methods bypassed the conscious mind through the use of both verbal and nonverbal pacing techniques including metaphor, confusion, imagery, surprise and humour; all were part of his arsenal of therapeutic tools. Erickson used hypnosis throughout his career to aid his clients' progression and recovery. He was a great and fast observer of people and could rapidly build rapport with his clients. His hypnotic methods, nowadays called Ericksonian Hypnosis, added another dimension to modern hypnotherapy. His work, combined with the work of Satir and Perls, was the basis for Bandler and Grinder's Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP).In 1952 Albert Mason was a young anaesthetist based at a hospital in East Grinstead, Sussex, England, which had, after World War II become a specialist hospital for plastic surgery. One day the surgeon he was working with, a Mr. Moore, had been upset when the skin graft that he had carried out on a teenage boy hadn't worked, and indeed had made matters worse. The boy was suffering with an extremely bad case of ichthyosis. This is usually a hereditary condition in which the patient has fewer sweat and sebaceous glands than usual, which causes the skin to become dry and scaly. The boy's body was almost covered in a thick, smelly, black layer of hard, dried skin which often oozed with a bloody serum. The youth, nicknamed "the boy with elephant skin" had suffered from this condition since birth and conventional medicine had failed to help him. This was the second time he had been given a skin graft operation but each time the new skin flared up like the rest of his body.Possibly unaware of the medic thinking of the time, that hypnosis was not intended to be used to heal congenital diseases, Dr. Mason offered to help the boy. In front of a dozen skeptical doctors, he hypnotized the boy and gave him suggestions that his left arm would become clear. Five days later the blackened skin became crumbly and fell off to reveal underneath, reddened but otherwise normal skin. Ten days later the boy's arm was clear. Dr. Mason proceeded to use hypnosis on the other parts of the boy's body, achieving remarkable results and the case was reported in the British Medical Journal for 1952. Three years later Dr. Mason wrote a follow up article reporting that the results appeared to be permanent. Albert was besieged with people suffering from Ichthyosis, they came from miles around, but he was never able to reproduce the success he had had with the boy. Albert's reasoning for this was that by then he 'knew' that Ichthyosis could not be treated with hypnotism and this was either being communicated to the patient somehow, or the belief was inhibiting his success. In 1952, the British Parliament passed the 'The Hypnotism Act'. It was intended to protect the public against potentially dangerous practices in stage hypnotism. Hypnotism is a powerful tool in the hands of properly trained doctors and therapists by many believe it is far too potent to mess around with for entertainment. Throughout history there have been public demonstrations of hypnosis, with the presenters often following their shows with private consultations. However, the reputation of hypnotism was eventually compromised by numerous fakes employing crude routines and paid stooges.Interest in hypnotism was revived with the success of an American stage hypnotist, Ormond McGill. As well as pioneering hypnosis as TV entertainment, McGill wrote what is now known as the bible of stage hypnosis, his books The New Encyclopaedia of Stage Hypnotism and Professional Stage Hypnotism. In the UK, the revival of stage hypnotism was accompanied by a heightened concern about the possible dangers of stage hypnosis, and the 1952 Hypnotism Act was brought in.In 1994 a panel of experts was set up by the Home Office to examine any evidence of possible harm to people taking part in public entertainments involving hypnotism, and to review the effectiveness of the law governing hypnotism for entertainment. Publication of the expert panel's report was announced in parliament in 1995, which concluded that "there was no evidence of serious risk to participants in stage hypnosis, and that any risk which does exist is much less significant than that involved in many other activities."Hypnosis was officially approved as a tool in medicine by the British Medical Association (BMA) in 1955.
In the USA the Council on Medical health of the American Medical Association accepted the use of hypnotherapy in 1958.William J. Bryan Jr. (1924 - 1977) a medical doctor, a minister of religion, and an attorney, founded the American Institute of Hypnosis and became its first president, on May 4, 1955. It was founded to be an educational body devoted to promoting all the phases of hypnosis in field of medicine and dentistry. In so doing, the Institute was founded to fill a gap that existed in that area. The Institute had members from the field of medicine, dentistry, psychology, psychiatry, theology and other professional people. Its growth was rapid and it become the world's most respected educational institution devoted solely to teaching hypnosis in medicine and dentistry to physicians and dentists all over the world. In the 1970's a discovery was made in the field of self improvement and the harnessing of inner resources. Although it is not directly related to hypnosis, many of its techniques can be used with hypnosis or as an aid to hypnotic therapy. This technique was created by Richard Brandler, an information scientist, and John Grindler, a linguistic professor. They named it Neuro-Linguistic Programming. It came about, in large part, by its two founders studying, understanding and developing the methods used by Milton H. Erickson in psychotherapy. NLP is a tool for improvement, using our neurology and thinking patterns (neuro), our way of expressing our thoughts and their influence on us (linguistic) and our patterns of behavior and goals setting (programming). It has been described as the ultimate software for the brain.

Using Hypnotherapy, Self Hypnosis and Imagery to Become a Winner at Sports
Many top sportsmen and women utilize self-hypnosis techniques such as visualization or guided imagery to enhance their performance and sports abilities. Meanwhile, focusing one's mind and relaxation procedures of self-hypnosis can improve the process of healing injuries. Why Is Heightened Awareness Used?
Athletes use visualization technique before they participate in a sports event so that they can build up the feeling of performance experience and envision their preferred result. Through this mental rehearsal, they can prepare themselves to participate actively in the said event. How To Use Self-Hypnosis
Implementing self-hypnosis is very easy when you have a self-help guide on a CD or MP3. The pre-recorded script will slowly direct you to relax and focus your awareness. Through this process, your mind will be opened to suggestions that can improve your physical and mental performance. How To Focus
As you sit in a comfortable position, you may start to focus your mind and slow down your breathing. Close your eyes to visualize your desired outcome or bring back your past performance. Imagine the details of the event as much as you can as you control your breathing and deepen your focus. Do not forget to focus on a positive image before you end your self-hypnosis session. Why It Works
Because self-hypnosis helps you realize your potential, boost up your self-confidence and relaxes your mind, you can focus on your desired outcome and improve your performance. This physical and mental preparedness gives you that advantage over your opponents.Self-hypnosis relaxes your mind and body; hence your negative thoughts will be replaced by positive images. As soon as you visualize the positive outcome, you will automatically respond to the challenge in a better, more determined and confident way. As a result, your performance level will be greatly increased. How It Works
Every time you imagine yourself in a sports performance, the Electromyographical (EMG) activity in your muscles intensifies and exhibits the same amount of performance level required in carrying out that activity. In short, picturing an activity in your mind prepares your muscles for the actual activity. If you want to learn a new skill, your performance level will be increased when you use visual imagery. Compared to verbal explanations, visual aids can accelerate your learning process and mastery of skills. In terms of rehabilitation, self-hypnosis promotes speedy healing of injuries through relaxation and visualization.
Hypnotherapy and Hypnosis Training
Have you ever thought about learning how to hypnotize yourself or others-to affect a change in someone's life in a profound and amazing way? Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy Training can do this for you and can teach you things about the mind that you never thought were possible. The mind is an amazing thing and can respond to autosuggestion or to the suggestions of others without resorting to drugs or harsh techniques. You can take hypnosis/hypnotherapy training through community education classes, through a hypnotherapy center or through an online course. You can take a week long seminar or do several hours of training in hypnosis and hypnotherapy using a CD course provided online. Such courses can teach you about hypnotic induction and about giving suggestions to the individual being hypnotized. For example, hypnosis or hypnotherapy training can teach you how to deal with medical hypnosis. Hypnotherapy training teaches you how to deal with conditions like chronic and acute pain, weight loss, anxiety, smoking cessation and phobias. You'll learn that chronic and acute pain is managed through suggestions related to pain such as "you will no longer feel this pain" or "The pain is blunted and you can barely feel it" or "You can handle any kind of pain". This can cause the client undergoing hypnosis to have sudden and remarkable changes in the way they perceive pain.Hypnosis and hypnotherapy training can also help you learn how to hypnotize yourself in a form of hypnosis called self hypnosis. This is when you go through your own visualization exercises until you are in a deeply relaxed and peaceful state of mind. You then give yourself suggestions such as those related to self esteem. Such suggestions might be "I am a beautiful and thoughtful person" or "I am an intelligent and capable person" or "I am completely lovable." You will learn to infiltrate these things into your everyday thinking and will feel better about yourself.Hypnosis/hypnotherapy training is also good for learning about phobias. There are people who are so phobic about things like heights, water or certain animals that they can't function. If treated with medication, it is often very sedating and doesn't help much anyway. If they undergo hypnosis, they will go through the induction process and be completely relaxed. They will be exposed to certain specific hypnotic suggestions such as "I am no longer afraid of water" or "I no longer fear heights" or "Spiders no longer bother me". They can get rid of their phobia in as little as a single session of hypnotherapy. There is hypnosis and hypnotherapy training that can result in a certification by the American Board of Clinical Hypnotherapy. Such certification is intended to make you capable of seeing clients with a number of conditions, including ADHD an ADD. You learn how to set up a hypnotherapy office and learn how to bill and manage a client load. There are many things that go into creating a healing environment for your clients and the hypnotherapy certification training helps you with that.

Sports Hypnosis For Athletes
Hypnosis for athletes was something that was unheard of some years ago, but is now considered an important tool in the elite athlete's arsenal. This applies to all activities from football to poker!Did you know that hypnosis and self-hypnosis are actually commonplace occurrences that most of us engage in on a regular basis without realizing it?How many times have you noticed that when you are driving, you are surprised when you arrive at your destination without observing the familiar scenery or landmarks along the way? It was almost as if you were driving on automatic pilot, while your conscious mind was focused elsewhere. This highway hypnosis is an example of going into a trance while your eyes are wide open, and is similar to an athlete using self-hypnosis during a game or match. And think about all of those times in school when you were in a boring class and found yourself daydreaming or thinking about your girlfriend or boyfriend. This mental visualization is also a type of hypnotic state. So, most of us actually have been hypnotized thousands of times without realizing we were engaging in self-hypnosis.Although the amazing power of hypnosis for U.S. athletes has been largely overlooked until recently, for years Eastern European nations have been realizing the amazing difference that sports hypnosis can have on athletic performance. In the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games, the Russians brought a team of eleven hypnotists with them, to instill confidence and the will to win in the Russian athletes. And we all know how powerful the Russian teams have been over the years. The power of hypnosis on focus and performance was also displayed beautifully in the 1988 Seoul Olympic Summer Games, when Olympic diver Greg Louganis hit his head on the board while performing a complicated dive during the 3 meter final. In what is considered one of the greatest feats in sporting history, Louganis, his head gushing blood, had the wound treated while he put earphones on to listen to hypnosis tapes. Amazingly, Greg then went out to score a perfect dive the second time, enough to earn him the gold medal. That dive is still shown on television today. In fact, I saw it yesterday.Among Certified Sports Psychologists, there are only a handful of us who are also Certified Sports Hypnosis Experts. We teach hypnotic techniques to athletes in literally all sports; to enhance such important individual dynamics as intensity, focus, consistency, concentration and anxiety control and to enhance team dynamics, such as working toward the common goal and intrateam cohesion. In my work with elite athletes I have seen the amazing power of hypnotic techniques produce amazing results.
Quarterbacks developed imagery, footwork and anxiety control during oncoming rushes.
Basketball players increased their free throw percentage.
Police Olympic shooters dramatically increased their accuracy.
Tennis players skyrocketed their intensity, confidence and strength during changeovers.
Golfers learned to ignore past errors and stayed in the moment on each hole.
Hockey players learned to visualize setting up scoring plays during their shifts.
And athletes with chronic, debilitating pain learned how to actually eliminate their pain!
Learn How to Hypnotise Someone in 5 Simple Steps
Would you like to learn how to hypnotize someone?
It's very simple and very effective in changing your life or someone else. In a moment I will explain the five steps, but first you must know how to tell you to be successful when you hypnotize someone.
The human brain operates in four states or discernible brain wave frequencies. The beta state is fully awake, and the other three states known as hypnosis. The light state of hypnosis called "alpha" and is the mode most people enter. Almost everyone will go into this mode if you get lost in the history of a book or to forget that you are driving because you're deep in thought about something that you have entered the Alpha state.
So if you follow the steps below and your subject just close your eyes, relax completely and listen to your voice, he probably in the alpha state.
How to hypnotize someone - Step 1:
The first step is to hypnotize someone induction phase. That is, if you get an argument became physically and mentally relaxed. When you say the subject to close your eyes and relax, ask him or her to inhale and exhale deeply and release the tension of each exhalation.
After a few breaths, say, the subject to relax their feet and move slowly ... allowing time for the purpose of seeing and feeling of relaxation ... say about the relaxation of the legs, hips, stomach, chest, shoulders, arms, neck and head.
Then, begin to describe the scenario as a relaxing garden or the forest, cloud, or walking in the street. Encourage the display and the feeling around her, and kept telling him to relax.
How to hypnotize someone - Phase 2:

If at this stage to imagine other subjects, such as walking down the stairs, go down the elevator, or more salt, if there is a cloud, etc. Tell the subject to relax even more, focusing only on your voice while the countdown each step or on the floor or whatever. Start the level of 3, 5 or 10 (the highest is not necessary), and lower down to 1 This phase is designed to relax and continue to deepen his hypnosis.

The fourth step is a "memory loss". Point of memory loss is considered a critical stage of the conscious mind of the way in which the progress of creating a doubt in my subconscious. To complete this stage, it is not used to say the subject is not consciously remember to load the commands you entered during the hypnosis session. The theme is free to forget the session. The subconscious, however, will never forget.
How to hypnotize someone - Step 5:
The final step is "the cessation of trance." This step is very simple. All you need do is say, you wake up you can expect from 3 to 1 and you are fully awake, refreshed and happy when you reach the number 1. Then count ... 3 ... 2 ... 1, and tell them to open their eyes.
That's all there in the basic procedure. Of course there are many ways to do each step. In addition, certain factors are particularly important for the suggestion scripts, and most of the steps that must be adapted to the subject.
Sleeping Hypnosis for Yourself - A Good Nights Sleep
How can sleeping hypnosis help you? We live in an increasingly chaotic world; our jobs demand more of us, our families demand more of us, we are inundated by life. It's when the lights go out we need to sleep to recharge ourselves before the next day.But we lay there and cannot sleep no matter how hard we try, it's horrible. Why? Because the lack of sleep comes from a lack of relaxation; the mind is still working with all the stress and worries of the day. This is where sleeping hypnosis can help; it speaks directly to the subconscious mind. In a session you will learn relaxation and the use of scripts and visualization, to go past the conscious mind into the deeper subconscious. While in a hypnotic state you can alter your behaviour to do something differently.Hypnosis has been used by millions to build confidence, conquer fears and phobias, quit smoking and lose weight, and now it can be used to help those suffering with insomnia. The first thing to practice is relaxation. Don't worry if you don't get it first time, worry will only cause more stress. Just remember that this has worked for many people and it will be the same for you. Be patient and easy with yourself, you will soon feel better than ever.Once in a light hypnotic state, between sleep and awake you are ready for the next step; suggestions, either in the form of the session CD or the scripts you have created for yourself.Scripts are the lines you create which speak of what you want for yourself. Make them progressive and in the present tense, and only focus on what you want and not on what you don't want. For example;Don't say;'I want no more sleepless nights'.Say instead;'I am very relaxed and sleeping very well'.If it sounds too idealistic that's ok, this is your private time with your subconscious mind; you are allowed to be idealistic. It's going to help you out in the end. Also, it's ok if you fall asleep; really that is your goal.Sleeping hypnosis is non-addictive so you can stop the whenever you like, and it can also have a good effect on your health in later life. You do not have to suffer with insomnia every again. You can enjoy a good night sleep again by taking the process of sleeping hypnosis and applying it to your own private self-hypnosis session, allowing you to tap into your own subconscious mind with the use of scripts. By understanding the effect these hypnotic suggestions will have on your mind and behaviour, it is really possible to relax yourself so you will sleep soundly and wake up feeling fresh and focussed the next day.

Covert Hypnosis - What It Is and How It Works
When hearing about covert persuasion, the subject is not only an art, but a science as well. This focuses primarily on what most people know as the art of persuasion. What this means is covert hypnosis is different in a variety of ways from both clinical hypnosis and stage hypnosis. The use of clinical hypnosis is what hypnotists turn to when curing people from any particular phobias, or perhaps headaches. Using therapeutic hypnosis can help people with such things as losing weight and quitting smoking. The practice of stage hypnosis is all for show and entertainment. Therefore, it is not an appropriate style of hypnosis to learn if the power of persuasion interests you.The type of hypnosis you need to study in order to persuade people is what we refer to as covert hypnosis. The techniques used with this kind of hypnosis are language and behavioral. The goal of the hypnosis itself is to alter both the decision making process and the emotions of the person being hypnotized. The reason language patterns represent only part of this process is that no language pattern provides any guarantee of success. Not every conversation you engage in with a person will be identical, therefore language patterns simply offer models of communication, which are modifiable for each social instance you could possibly have with each person you are trying to hypnotize successfully. The covert persuasion behavioral techniques partially entail social strategy, as it is referred to by the art of persuasion. Any strategic behavioral patterns become persuasive techniques, which are quite valuable. You can imply the power of any non-verbal suggestions in order to influence those around you. A portion of any social strategy involves the ties you create, as well as the manner in which you decide to make use of them. Social strategy can also implicate arranging the appropriate social locations or environments at the right time. Therefore, covert hypnosis is a process of integrating a variety of distinct persuasion techniques into one fluid impact. A qualified trainer in this field should never rely on solely on language to influence people, as there will potentially be occasions when the people around you may not be willing to engage in conversation, or will feel uncomfortable doing so if they don't already know you. Thus, the persuasion artist needs to create the befitting social ambiance, which will result in people feeling drawn to talk to you.Another influence you will have in creating the correct social setting is positioning yourself as a figure of authority in various social arrangements. People will automatically regard you as a person of value where they will have a desire to speak with you. This will give you the perfect opportunity for covert hypnosis to begin.

How to Hypnotize Someone For the Beginners
How to hypnotize someone? How to acquire such a fantastic ability to take control over people? It is much easier than you think. To put it simple, hypnosis is the process of taking someone to a very relaxed condition (trance) and then suggesting all information you want to his subconscious. It resembles downloading software to a computer and installing it.Suggestions can be different. You can hypnotize someone and suggest him or her to feel confident, less stressed or help a person to overcome some hang-ups. We can also make suggestion that is advantageous for us. Imagine for a second that you we can hypnotize and seduce every woman or man we like! However I must warn you about one important thing. Before you decide to learn how to hypnotize someone you must understand that you will not be able to suggest anything against persons deep-rooted moral principles. Our mind is so perfectly created that when our subconscious detects the outside intrusion it allows to suggest only anything that will not make any harm to our body and mind. That is why by hypnotizing someone you can bring only benefits to this person. Otherwise, if you have bad intentions persons subconscious will simply not listen to you.If you still have a desire to find out how to hypnotize someone, you are going to be shocked to know how simple it is. Actually, if you think about your day routine in terms of hypnosis, you can notice that we are hypnotizing someone every day. Or we are being hypnotized. For example, if you listen very attentively to a salesperson and then buy something from him - my congratulations, you are been hypnotized! Or if you just listen someone, but think about something different from the topic and then realizing you remember nothing of what was said to you. It is a mild form of hypnosis.Professional hypnotists are doing the same. They ask person to lay down, relax and then try to make him imaging or recall something. They simply divert their conscious attention and talk directly to our subconscious. I bet you saw a scene in the movies where a hypnotist swaying something like pendulum in front of patient eyes. It used to be a very popular trick to hypnotize someone. This swaying thing was distracting persons attention, made his eyes follow the pendulum and thus entered him in a state of trance. That is why if you want to hypnotize someone, the first and the main thing you should do is to make the person focus on an object, image or anything that would enable him to relax and abstract away from the reality. To sum up, I would like to say that if used properly, hypnosis is a very powerful and efficient tool to make people more happy and satisfied. Now it is for you to decide do you want to learn how to hypnotize someone or not. In any way I wish you good like and hope you enjoyed this article.

Hypnosis for Migraine Headaches
The idea of migraine hypnotherapy might seem like a contradiction in terms. How does your subconscious affect the physical nature of your body? How does the mind control pain? Often a common over the counter pill does the trick when it comes to headaches. Migraines, however, are much more than a mere headache.Migraines are incapacitating, as anyone who has ever suffered from one will tell you. There are medications and other forms of treatment for migraines but in spite of these ways of dealing with migraines, some people are out of commission days due to this dreadful headache. To understand why hypnosis is one of the most successful treatments for migraines it is helpful to understand the nature of migraines.Migraines are triggered by changes in your body that can be set off by stress, medications, certain foods, poor sleep patterns, and other factors that vary from individual to individual. The symptoms include debilitating pain. This can include nausea and vomiting which may be the body's reaction to the pain that seems to throb throughout the entire body. Light can also negatively affect migraine sufferers and they often need to lie still in the dark to alleviate the discomfort.Since migraines can last for days and since they often seem impervious to pain medications, it is imperative that a faster and more effective treatment be utilized. Migraine hypnosis has been studied and shown to be highly effective - more than three times the people treated with hypnosis stopped having migraines than those who stopped having migraines after being given the prescription medication prochlorperazine.Prochlorperazine is used for treating mental and emotional disorders, such as psychotic disorders including schizophrenia. It controls severe nausea and vomiting and moderate to severe pain. Basically it covers the painful side effects of a migraine. Speaking of side effects, the side effects of prochlorperazine include body and facial tics.Hypnosis on the other hand does not have side effects. It is also a lot easier on your body than any heavy-duty medications. The relaxation techniques included in migraine hypnosis work on the stress factor and other such triggers. Hypnosis can help with techniques that circumvent your usual migraine inducing elements.Besides being less expensive and less dangerous than medication, migraine hypnosis is more effective. It reaches into your subconscious and works on helping you develop ways of getting around the stress and habits that cause migraines. If you suffer from migraine headaches, you owe it to yourself to try migraine hypnotherapy.

Easy Self Hypnosis Techniques - How to Hypnotize Yourself and Others
At its most basic, hypnosis is just a controlled day dream. Sure, it goes deeper than that, which is where using hypnosis techniques comes in. These techniques don't have to be complicated. In fact, it's often the simplest techniques that work best. The first thing to learn is how to induce a hypnotic trance. This is the state which to the untrained eye looks as though someone is actually sleeping whereas they're really just in a very relaxed state. The tips below assume you're working on someone else but you can easily record them and use them on yourself if you prefer. There are lots of different ways to induce a state of hypnosis. I find the easiest is to get your subject to take in a deep breath and then slowly exhale. Do this several times and you'll see whoever you're trying to trance out visibly relax. Then get your subject to close their eyes. The next step is to deepen the trance. At this stage, it will be quite light and easily broken. I get the person I'm hypnotizing to imagine that they're in a clearing in a forest. I ask them to notice the grass beneath their feet, listen to the birds singing, notice how the light plays through the trees in the clearing, hear a stream bubbling along.Once that's been done, I direct them to a series of steps that they've just noticed at the edge of the clearing. There are ten of these steps and I tell my hypnotic subject that each step will take them deeper into their hypnotic trance. And I then count them down the steps, reinforcing the idea of them going deeper and deeper into trance with every step downwards.Once your subject reaches the bottom step, it's time to start planting the actual hypnotic commands that you want to use. These could be absolutely anything, depending on what you're trying to achieve. So the commands could be to be more attentive to the food they're eating if the objective is weight loss - making sure that your subject doesn't just eat on auto-pilot. Or you could use a replacement for the pleasure they get from smoking cigarettes.Whatever the purpose of the session, make sure that any commands you plant in your subject's mind are phrased positively. Then the final hypnotic technique before you count them out of their trance is to get them to visualize how good things will be in the future once the hypnosis has taken effect.
Self-Hypnosis for Confidence Coming Out of Your Shell
Tired of being the perennial wallflower? Are you always hesitant to speak in front of an audience? Can't seem to boost that low self-esteem? If self-help books and seminars don't really improve your confidence, then it's high time to avail yourself of self-hypnosis for confidence building. Why does one need a confidence boost? Studies show that children with low self-esteem generally have poor academic performance and are prone to turn to drugs, violence, and other anti-social behavior. The incidence of suicide is also high among people who have a low sense of self-worth.But people who have self-confidence are more assured of themselves and this assurance of oneself ultimately leads to success. If one believes in his or her own ability to succeed or finish a task, then half the work is already done. Having self-confidence is advantageous especially if achieved early in life. The earlier one believes in their capacity to do things well, the earlier they believe in their value as a person.Teenagers, even in their early formative years, have already have formed their own sets of biases, beliefs, and values that may or may not be adverse to their aims of achieving good academic performance or athletic excellence. A teenager's life is never easy. You have to contend with peer pressure, academics, social pressure, and the physical changes that occur as a result of hormonal changes brought about by puberty. Negative values however can be eliminated and positive values reinforced through hypnosis.Lectures and trainings to boost your self-confidence just do not work as effectively as self-hypnosis for confidence. They merely scratch at the surface of the problem and barely touch the innermost core of the mind. Hypnosis goes to the inner part of the brain and sends subliminal positive messages that boost your confidence. These subliminal messages are more effective and long lasting.Hypnotherapy may be availed of in various ways. You can go to a trained professional hypnotist and undergo hypnosis sessions to improve your confidence. This is more expensive and takes more of your time since you have to go to a therapist for these sessions.Self-hypnosis is more convenient and cheaper. It also affords more privacy and demands less of your time. You can either choose to have an audio cassette that guides you into putting yourself in a hypnotic trance. Or have a video copy that trains you how to do self-hypnosis.Audio self-hypnosis cassettes are handier. You can just upload it to your MP3 player and you can now listen to it and put yourself in a hypnotic trance. Videos offer more accuracy in following instructions on how to put yourself in a hypnotic trance. But you need a television monitor and a DVD player before you can use it. Just make sure the copy you brought is authentic. Many fake copies are already circulating even in the internet. Whatever technique you use, you can be sure that when you use hypnosis, you are assured of a natural, effective, and long lasting way to improve your confidence and help you go through life successfully and fulfill your dreams.

Using Hypnosis For Cold and Flu Relief With Hypnotic Chicken Soup
I recall a great episode of South Park when the town all got SARS and Stan discovered that cure (told to him by a wise-old trailer trash guy) was Chicken noodle soup, DayQuil (US version of Vicks) and Sprite. We all are sure to have come across our own best ways of dealing with the common cold, I used to have Heinz tomato soup, a copy of the Beano to read in bed and a couple of spoonfuls of butterscotch syrup - which is simply delicious. On occasions, I'd get one of the old style bottles of lucozade wrapped in yellow noisy foil/paper too.It would seem though that chicken soup does indeed have mystical powers! Many people revert to chicken soup when they have a cold or flu and there have even been some studies to investigate the reasons for it and it does indeed contain a bunch of ingredients that help us through those miserable times. As we are in the height of Summer here in the UK, I thought I'd get in quick and be prepared with a lovely notion combining the benefits of chicken soup and amplifying them with self-hypnosis and if and when you get a cold in the Winter months ahead, then you have a process to do in bed while feeling sorry for yourself.Of course, as much as I'd love to, I cannot offer up a cure for the common cold - which as of today, still eludes all and sundry in medical fields, but this process can certainly help alleviate some of the symptoms as you overcome the cold with your body's defences.Seven Steps To Use Hypnosis For Cold and Flu Relief:Step One: Induce hypnosis. Hypnotise yourself with any means that you have been shown and that you prefer. You can use the free, downloadable session on this site to practice or read one of my articles on how to do that here in the blog archive.Step Two: Engage your imagination. In your mind, put yourself in a kitchen of your design - a kitchen that is a dream kitchen to you or a place that you love the look of. See the sights of it, hear the sounds, and be aware of how it makes you feel to be in this wonderful kitchen.Notice the cooker and the kind of stove that there is. Again, notice the details, become aware of the size of it and the colours and also notice that upon it is a covered pan. Perhaps you notice some slight steam coming from the pan as you move closer to it. Again, really imagine the smallest of drtails about the pan - the size, colour, dimensions, type.Imagine taking the lid off to uncover the pan. Watch the steam rise up and let the smell fill your nostrils. become aware of the depth of the semll and how simply the smell seems to fill your senses with well-being and harmony. As you look into the pan, you notice the colour of the soup inside, you see the texture of it and ehar the sound of it gently simmering there - you notice that it is the most perfect looking chicken soup that you have seen. Create it in your mind in great detail, allow the smell to continue to emanate and start to imagine how good it is going to taste. When you really get a sense that this is the best soup you can imagine, then move on to the next step.Step Three: Start to imagine that the soup has some kind of additional, healthful, energising properties too - something that you can notice and observe. Perhaps you start to get a craving for the soup and so you can take the kitchen utensils you need from the drawer as the aroma continues to fill your senses.using whatever utensils you chose, pour or spoon the soup into a bowl and then take a comfortable seat at the kitchen table. When you are sat down, you might choose to look out of the window and enjoy whatever is a most comforting view to look out at while seated. Let it be something that encourages and comforts you, a view that uplifts you and inspires you. Let it energise you and give you a clarity of thought as you look again at the soup in your bowl reaching the perfect temperature for eating, the aroma rising to your nose again and you get a sense of its properties. When you have spent the right amount of time on getting this set up accordingly, move on to the next step.Step Four: Now you hold your spoon, imagine how it feels in your hand, let it meet the soup and you start to eat it. notice the sensation of it in your mouth and get the flavour on your tongue.Notice how it soothes as it moves down your throat, sending goodness and well-being as it moves. Notice the comforting warmth of the soup as it reaches your tummy. Then imagine it sending it's goodness throughout the rest of your body. Imagine it healing you, imagine it uplifting you and overpowering anything unwanted. Imagine it's properties are doing whatever you feel you need the most right now.Engage in the idea that it is affecting and influencing your throat, your nasal cavities and ears and is soothing, easing and comforting. Really take all the time necessary here to notice some changes.Step Five: As you take more spoonfuls, taking your time over each, imagine the goodness and well-being effects start to spread to other areas of your body - notice it warming and healing your chest and the properties of the soup are effecting those areas in and around your chest and soothing. Imagine and notice that any infection or virus is being weakened and lessened too.You might like to imagine the effects of the soup as a colour, or a sensation or a sound that starts to dominate the areas that it goes to. Notice a healthy warmth, a healthy glow emanating from deep within you that starts to dominate more with each spoonful you consume. Let all the effects happen just as you imagine a perfect remedy to do. Spend enough time letting each spoonful positively effect each area that you require to gain from this process.Step Six: When you are sure that the feelings are going to stay with you and you have taken enough of the soup to really give you a depth of good feeling and well-being, then it is time to end this session. Tell yourself that the effects of this session stay with you for a good period of time and continue to help you through this time. Then you exit hypnosis by counting yourself up, wiggling your fingers and toes and starting to let yourself get better! You may find some additional benefits from having some actual chicken soup following a session like this and imagining the effects enhance as you eat it in reality. Let yourself expect it to have a great effect and you'll combine the vast placebo effect with this mental imagery process, magnified with hypnosis - what more can anyone do to help with cold and flu symptoms? So there you have it, a lovely way to combine a typical so-called remedy and the power of self-hypnosis to help alleviate the symptoms of the common cold and flu.

How to Hypnotize Someone Instantly With Sleep Hypnosis
To hypnotize someone instantly is not difficult but having confidence in yourself to do so is important to your success. Hypnosis can be applied to anyone in a few easy steps. First, make sure your environment is conducive for proceeding to hypnotize your subject. This means dimming the lights and making certain that there aren't any distractions, perhaps light a few scented candles. Get your subject to relax their body and mind by having them to slowly breathe in through their nose and exhale out of their mouth.Next have them rid themselves of all thoughts, concerns, or worries by assigning each a color; then to expel it as the individual breathes in and out. Now ask the person to imagine a liquid filling them up from their feet to their head and when this is done they will feel totally relaxed and at ease. It is now possible to suggest an idea, thought, or even an action. This is called hypnotic suggestion. Visualization is usually involved in acknowledging the bad aspects of a habit then positive results when the habit is dumped and how your subject will feel much better for it after. After allowing the person to dwell in this "happy place" it is time to bring them back. Hypnosis, especially sleep hypnosis, is helpful to those with sleep disorders.Sleep hypnosis can help improve on a variety of sleep disorders. Certain sleep disorders respond well with sleep hypnosis like bed wetting, insomnia, having nightmares, or sleep walking.Bed wetting affects people of all ages. Sleep hypnosis can help to identify and resolve the problem. Insomnia also responds well. Emotional disturbances, depression, or medication can induce this sleep disorder. For nightmares, therapists can ease away stress and calm anxiety that is the cause for these terrifying dreams.Sleepwalking, also known as somnambulism, happens at any age. It usually happens while the person is in a deep sleep. Although self-hypnosis can help an individual with minor sleep deprivation, it is better for a professional to diagnose and treat short or long-term disorders. Sleep hypnosis works with other treatments such as therapy, medication, or keeping a sleep journal. If you are experiencing chronic sleep problems consult your doctor first to rule out an underlying medical condition such as sleep apnea. Then the doctor might refer you to a hypnotherapist. How To hypnotize someone instantly is very intriguing, so always use caution.

Stage Hypnosis Versus Hypnotherapy
Let me firstly briefly outline my credentials.I have been a practicing Hypnotherapist for 26 years and have, sometimes to my shame, done a fair amount of demonstration hypnosis to audiences, including hallucination hypnosis and altering a subject's memory. I am principal and founder of The Robert shields College and have trained Hypnotherapists since 1986. I presently do the training through the Internet. Here are brief explanations of the two types of the application of hypnosis I am writing about:Stage Hypnosis:
Is a demonstration of the willingness of certain individuals to use hypnosis as an excuse to be the centre of attraction to a non-critical audience. It is also a vehicle for a proclaimed hypnotist to stroke his own ego and to give the false impression that he is all powerful and in total control of those individuals I have just described.Hypnotherapy:
On the other hand, a Hypnotherapist is an individual who for whatever reason, usually because of a need within his personality, to help other individuals in need of psychological help. A Hypnotherapist should be well versed in both the ethical use of hypnosis and a working knowledge of psychology, both of which are used to help his client towards a better life. The MechanicsHow does a stage hypnotist appear to control his subjects? To answer that we have to become aware of what is actually happening some hours before and during his performance. Here are the procedures that are typically applied before a hypnotist carries out his act:1. Before the hypnotist appears on stage, he would have received a great deal of 'positive and complimentary' publicity. There should also be an entrance charge to his act, the higher the better. Reasons being that the publicity builds up an expectation of a powerful figure and when a fee is paid, it is an unconscious way of saying, 'I believe the publicity'. In fact, those people who know themselves to be hypnotisable, are unconsciously expecting to be, and invariably will, be hypnotised.2. On the actual night, the audience will be kept waiting to build up the 'expectancy' even more. Usually the proprietors of the establishment will continually mention that the hypnotist will appear later in the evening. This is in a way similar to the build up to a T.V. show when the floor manager and some well known comedians 'prepare' the audience minutes before the show. Also, it is common practice for the use of alcohol to be used to 'free up the inhibitions' by being available for at least a couple of hours before the show.3. The appearance of the hypnotist will be to the sound of great applause - again building up the expectation and causing excitement. The personal attire of the hypnotist is usually black to give that 'mystical' appearance and to create the impression of power. This is not absolutely necessary if the performer is well known.4. The hypnotist will then talk to the audience and further convince them that he is the powerful figure they were expecting who has the magical hypnotic powers expected of him. Usually the talk includes personal testimonials to his abilities.5. Now to the performance. The hypnotist will always carry out a number of 'suggestibility tests' to establish who is highly suggestible within the audience. The tests are intended to produce a small number of people who respond readily to suggestions and who are either able to convince themselves they can be hypnotised or, are willing to do foolish things with the excuse of having no control over their actions due to being hypnotised.6. The suggestibility tests are varied and numerous, an example being the 'hand clasp' test.a. The audience is 'asked' to stand up (those that do are responding to an order (a suggestion) to do so) and then to hold their arms out in front of them. They are then instructed to clasp the hands together, intertwining their fingers (the hypnotist will demonstrate to ensure the instructions are followed exactly as that is very important).b. The audience is then told that when the hypnotist counts up to a certain number, the hands will become stuck together (this is repeated at least three times in accordance with the 'laws of suggestion') and on the final number the hypnotist will ask the audience to 'try' (this word 'suggests' that they cannot) to unclasp their hands. The harder they try (this is another law of suggestion - 'the harder you try, the more difficult it becomes') the more difficult it will become and they will find they cannot unclasp the hands, no matter 'how hard' they try. (Think of the 'tight-rope walker'. The novice will try too hard and fall, whereas the experienced walker just takes it easy and succeeds)7. As it is known that approximately 25% of the population is highly suggestible, in any audience there will be a number of people who will not be able to unclasp their hands. Sometimes a lot and sometimes very few.8. Those people who cannot unclasp their hands are asked to remain standing (this is to ensure the hypnotist does not lose track of them and enables him to observe the 'exhibitionists' amongst them). Another suggestion is given to allow them to unclasp their hands, usually by simply telling them to relax their hands and on a given word such as 'now' they will be able to unclasp their hands. The reason their hands are clasped together is because they are tensing them and the simple act of relaxing enables them to unclasp, but the audience believes it is the power of the hypnotist at work.9. Sometimes, the hypnotist will then carry out another 'suggestibility test' to lower the numbers of possible subjects. This is done mainly with large audiences.10. The hypnotist will then 'invite' those people standing to go on to the stage and sit on chairs already placed in a line behind the hypnotist. The chairs will have already acted as a powerful suggestion as the audience will have seen them and 'expected' members of the audience to sit in them and be hypnotised.11. Those of the audience who accept the invitation are in effect giving the hypnotist permission to do whatever he wants with them as they know what is to be expected. However, there will always be those who pretend to by hypnotised or who simply want to make a fool of the hypnotist in front of their friends. But a good hypnotist will be well aware of this and look for signs that will weed out those problem makers. For example, he may have a stooge in the audience who will secretly point out to him anyone who is misbehaving behind his back. Or, another possible sign is the audience laughing at something that is happening that the hypnotist does not see. So following the direction of the audience's eyes, will tell him who is going to cause him problems and steel the limelight. Those people are quickly asked to return to their seats in the audience. So on with the show. The hypnotist will then carry out his act appearing to hypnotise at will and getting his subjects to perform funny, but harmless acts in front of the audience. It should be noted that NOBODY will respond to any form of SUGGESTION that is OBNOXIOUS or against his or her MORAL CONVICTIONS!No stage hypnotist would risk his reputation by giving a suggestion to anyone knowing that that person would object to carrying it out. For example, it would be very risky to suggest to an attractive woman that she should physically take her clothes off. Ok, there are women who would gladly do that in front of an audience, but the hypnotist would not know that and would, therefore, avoid such a suggestion. You will also note that religion is NEVER included in a stage hypnotist's performance. It should also be noted that in any audience, there are a small number of people who would be happy to go on stage and do silly things to get a laugh. Go to any holiday camp and you will see performers calling up on stage members of an audience and having them do silly things. There are clowns in every audience and the stage is a perfect vehicle for them, with or WITHOUT hypnosis as an excuse.Genuine Hypnosis or Not!So are those volunteers on the stage genuinely hypnotised. The answer is a 'Yes' and a 'No'. Some are in such a deep trance that they are genuinely hypnotised. Those people usually cannot remember what they have done immediately after a show, but do remember as time passes by. (Of course, some people who do remember, say they do not because they want to 'cover up their tracks' with their friends and family).Others will NOT be hypnotised, but pretend they are.I watched a show once and one woman was certainly under hypnosis whereas there was a man who was obviously not. The hypnotist got only a few laughs from the woman and made full use of the man as he was willing to do virtually anything to raise a laugh. It should be noted that an ethical hypnotist will always establish normality, at the end of his act, in his subjects, regardless of whether he believes it necessary or not.Ok, enough about stage hypnosis and now to Hypnotherapy. Now for the boring part of this article. What does a Hypnotherapist do? He or she helps people to live a normal and happy life. The definition of 'normal' has to be left up to you for it is how you want to live your life that is normal.A Hypnotherapist will be educated in both the application and use of hypnosis and also in the application of psychology in the form of psychotherapy.Good Hypnotherapists have an arsenal of techniques and therapies at his or her disposal. The importance of recognising every client as an individual with his or her own personal characteristics, life experiences and most importantly 'a way of dealing with problems', cannot be emphasised enough.Hypnotherapists are there to help and not to make a client feel foolish. An important requirement for any Hypnotherapist is a caring, kind and understanding nature. The need to help others is a bonus. Also important is the training a Hypnotherapist receives. Any course taken MUST include the psychology aspect of treating clients. The reason simply being that a Hypnotherapist treats psychological problems and he or she must understand human behaviour. It is not necessary to hold a degree in psychology, but knowledge of most forms of psychology is important.A typical treatment given by a Hypnotherapist would be:1. A consultation when an overall assessment of a client's problem is taken. The consultation must include questions on family background, medication, past illnesses and a host of other things. Near the end of the consultation, the Hypnotherapist may or may not include a short session of hypnosis to boost the client's confidence in the therapy to be given.2. On the next session the Hypnotherapist will then use an appropriate therapy. Sometimes it includes hypnosis and sometimes a non-hypnosis technique such as Guided Imagery. If the Hypnotherapist considers it appropriate, he or she may just use this session to talk through the problem.3. Subsequent sessions are then conducted to bring about a solution to the client's problem. At no time would an ethical Hypnotherapist produce a situation where the client becomes reliant on the therapy of therapist. The goal of a Hypnotherapist is to guide the client towards self-reliance when he or she is in full control of the life he or she wants to lead.Hypnotherapy can be used to treat almost, but not all, psychological ailments.I hope the above helps you recognise the difference between what is perceived as stage hypnosis and Hypnotherapy. One entertains and is not what it appears to be and the other is used for healing. Please note that in the above article I have used the male gender throughout, but this is for easy reading and does not exclude female hypnotists, or Hypnotherapists.Thank you for reading this article.
