Stage Hypnosis Versus Hypnotherapy

Let me firstly briefly outline my credentials.I have been a practicing Hypnotherapist for 26 years and have, sometimes to my shame, done a fair amount of demonstration hypnosis to audiences, including hallucination hypnosis and altering a subject's memory. I am principal and founder of The Robert shields College and have trained Hypnotherapists since 1986. I presently do the training through the Internet. Here are brief explanations of the two types of the application of hypnosis I am writing about:Stage Hypnosis:

Is a demonstration of the willingness of certain individuals to use hypnosis as an excuse to be the centre of attraction to a non-critical audience. It is also a vehicle for a proclaimed hypnotist to stroke his own ego and to give the false impression that he is all powerful and in total control of those individuals I have just described.Hypnotherapy:

On the other hand, a Hypnotherapist is an individual who for whatever reason, usually because of a need within his personality, to help other individuals in need of psychological help. A Hypnotherapist should be well versed in both the ethical use of hypnosis and a working knowledge of psychology, both of which are used to help his client towards a better life. The MechanicsHow does a stage hypnotist appear to control his subjects? To answer that we have to become aware of what is actually happening some hours before and during his performance. Here are the procedures that are typically applied before a hypnotist carries out his act:1. Before the hypnotist appears on stage, he would have received a great deal of 'positive and complimentary' publicity. There should also be an entrance charge to his act, the higher the better. Reasons being that the publicity builds up an expectation of a powerful figure and when a fee is paid, it is an unconscious way of saying, 'I believe the publicity'. In fact, those people who know themselves to be hypnotisable, are unconsciously expecting to be, and invariably will, be hypnotised.2. On the actual night, the audience will be kept waiting to build up the 'expectancy' even more. Usually the proprietors of the establishment will continually mention that the hypnotist will appear later in the evening. This is in a way similar to the build up to a T.V. show when the floor manager and some well known comedians 'prepare' the audience minutes before the show. Also, it is common practice for the use of alcohol to be used to 'free up the inhibitions' by being available for at least a couple of hours before the show.3. The appearance of the hypnotist will be to the sound of great applause - again building up the expectation and causing excitement. The personal attire of the hypnotist is usually black to give that 'mystical' appearance and to create the impression of power. This is not absolutely necessary if the performer is well known.4. The hypnotist will then talk to the audience and further convince them that he is the powerful figure they were expecting who has the magical hypnotic powers expected of him. Usually the talk includes personal testimonials to his abilities.5. Now to the performance. The hypnotist will always carry out a number of 'suggestibility tests' to establish who is highly suggestible within the audience. The tests are intended to produce a small number of people who respond readily to suggestions and who are either able to convince themselves they can be hypnotised or, are willing to do foolish things with the excuse of having no control over their actions due to being hypnotised.6. The suggestibility tests are varied and numerous, an example being the 'hand clasp' test.a. The audience is 'asked' to stand up (those that do are responding to an order (a suggestion) to do so) and then to hold their arms out in front of them. They are then instructed to clasp the hands together, intertwining their fingers (the hypnotist will demonstrate to ensure the instructions are followed exactly as that is very important).b. The audience is then told that when the hypnotist counts up to a certain number, the hands will become stuck together (this is repeated at least three times in accordance with the 'laws of suggestion') and on the final number the hypnotist will ask the audience to 'try' (this word 'suggests' that they cannot) to unclasp their hands. The harder they try (this is another law of suggestion - 'the harder you try, the more difficult it becomes') the more difficult it will become and they will find they cannot unclasp the hands, no matter 'how hard' they try. (Think of the 'tight-rope walker'. The novice will try too hard and fall, whereas the experienced walker just takes it easy and succeeds)7. As it is known that approximately 25% of the population is highly suggestible, in any audience there will be a number of people who will not be able to unclasp their hands. Sometimes a lot and sometimes very few.8. Those people who cannot unclasp their hands are asked to remain standing (this is to ensure the hypnotist does not lose track of them and enables him to observe the 'exhibitionists' amongst them). Another suggestion is given to allow them to unclasp their hands, usually by simply telling them to relax their hands and on a given word such as 'now' they will be able to unclasp their hands. The reason their hands are clasped together is because they are tensing them and the simple act of relaxing enables them to unclasp, but the audience believes it is the power of the hypnotist at work.9. Sometimes, the hypnotist will then carry out another 'suggestibility test' to lower the numbers of possible subjects. This is done mainly with large audiences.10. The hypnotist will then 'invite' those people standing to go on to the stage and sit on chairs already placed in a line behind the hypnotist. The chairs will have already acted as a powerful suggestion as the audience will have seen them and 'expected' members of the audience to sit in them and be hypnotised.11. Those of the audience who accept the invitation are in effect giving the hypnotist permission to do whatever he wants with them as they know what is to be expected. However, there will always be those who pretend to by hypnotised or who simply want to make a fool of the hypnotist in front of their friends. But a good hypnotist will be well aware of this and look for signs that will weed out those problem makers. For example, he may have a stooge in the audience who will secretly point out to him anyone who is misbehaving behind his back. Or, another possible sign is the audience laughing at something that is happening that the hypnotist does not see. So following the direction of the audience's eyes, will tell him who is going to cause him problems and steel the limelight. Those people are quickly asked to return to their seats in the audience. So on with the show. The hypnotist will then carry out his act appearing to hypnotise at will and getting his subjects to perform funny, but harmless acts in front of the audience. It should be noted that NOBODY will respond to any form of SUGGESTION that is OBNOXIOUS or against his or her MORAL CONVICTIONS!No stage hypnotist would risk his reputation by giving a suggestion to anyone knowing that that person would object to carrying it out. For example, it would be very risky to suggest to an attractive woman that she should physically take her clothes off. Ok, there are women who would gladly do that in front of an audience, but the hypnotist would not know that and would, therefore, avoid such a suggestion. You will also note that religion is NEVER included in a stage hypnotist's performance. It should also be noted that in any audience, there are a small number of people who would be happy to go on stage and do silly things to get a laugh. Go to any holiday camp and you will see performers calling up on stage members of an audience and having them do silly things. There are clowns in every audience and the stage is a perfect vehicle for them, with or WITHOUT hypnosis as an excuse.Genuine Hypnosis or Not!So are those volunteers on the stage genuinely hypnotised. The answer is a 'Yes' and a 'No'. Some are in such a deep trance that they are genuinely hypnotised. Those people usually cannot remember what they have done immediately after a show, but do remember as time passes by. (Of course, some people who do remember, say they do not because they want to 'cover up their tracks' with their friends and family).Others will NOT be hypnotised, but pretend they are.I watched a show once and one woman was certainly under hypnosis whereas there was a man who was obviously not. The hypnotist got only a few laughs from the woman and made full use of the man as he was willing to do virtually anything to raise a laugh. It should be noted that an ethical hypnotist will always establish normality, at the end of his act, in his subjects, regardless of whether he believes it necessary or not.Ok, enough about stage hypnosis and now to Hypnotherapy. Now for the boring part of this article. What does a Hypnotherapist do? He or she helps people to live a normal and happy life. The definition of 'normal' has to be left up to you for it is how you want to live your life that is normal.A Hypnotherapist will be educated in both the application and use of hypnosis and also in the application of psychology in the form of psychotherapy.Good Hypnotherapists have an arsenal of techniques and therapies at his or her disposal. The importance of recognising every client as an individual with his or her own personal characteristics, life experiences and most importantly 'a way of dealing with problems', cannot be emphasised enough.Hypnotherapists are there to help and not to make a client feel foolish. An important requirement for any Hypnotherapist is a caring, kind and understanding nature. The need to help others is a bonus. Also important is the training a Hypnotherapist receives. Any course taken MUST include the psychology aspect of treating clients. The reason simply being that a Hypnotherapist treats psychological problems and he or she must understand human behaviour. It is not necessary to hold a degree in psychology, but knowledge of most forms of psychology is important.A typical treatment given by a Hypnotherapist would be:1. A consultation when an overall assessment of a client's problem is taken. The consultation must include questions on family background, medication, past illnesses and a host of other things. Near the end of the consultation, the Hypnotherapist may or may not include a short session of hypnosis to boost the client's confidence in the therapy to be given.2. On the next session the Hypnotherapist will then use an appropriate therapy. Sometimes it includes hypnosis and sometimes a non-hypnosis technique such as Guided Imagery. If the Hypnotherapist considers it appropriate, he or she may just use this session to talk through the problem.3. Subsequent sessions are then conducted to bring about a solution to the client's problem. At no time would an ethical Hypnotherapist produce a situation where the client becomes reliant on the therapy of therapist. The goal of a Hypnotherapist is to guide the client towards self-reliance when he or she is in full control of the life he or she wants to lead.Hypnotherapy can be used to treat almost, but not all, psychological ailments.I hope the above helps you recognise the difference between what is perceived as stage hypnosis and Hypnotherapy. One entertains and is not what it appears to be and the other is used for healing. Please note that in the above article I have used the male gender throughout, but this is for easy reading and does not exclude female hypnotists, or Hypnotherapists.Thank you for reading this article.

Hypnosis for Shyness - Does It Really Work

It's one thing to be a little intimidated by a group of people that you do not know; it's another thing to feel like you're missing out on life because of your shyness. Being shy is not a part of your genetic makeup - like your eye color or your height. Instead, being shy is a habit, and that's a good thing. It means you can actively work to change it.But is hypnosis for shyness really the best way to do it?Absolutely! When you suffer from shyness, it can feel like something that you'll never overcome. After all, how are you supposed to magically be more outgoing and more talkative?Furthermore, trying to overcome your shyness with some of the "common" tricks - like picturing people in their underwear, asking open-ended questions, or trying to change based on sheer willpower - is not going to work. You might be able to engage in a quick conversation with those techniques, but deep down, you're still going to feel very shy and uncomfortable.Hypnosis for shyness works because it focuses its efforts on your subconscious mind, instead of your conscious one. Even though you may not know it, virtually all of your thoughts and actions stem from your subconscious. If you have a problem, you may consciously understand there's an issue, but you can't fix it without working on your subconscious. If you suffer from shyness, your subconscious reacts to things like parties, meeting new people, and hanging out with friends with fear and anxiety - instead of the excitement and pleasure that most people feel. Deep down, your subconscious may believe that if you talk to people, they will think poorly of you or reject you. As a result, your subconscious prevents you from saying anything. After all, it's "safer" that way.During hypnosis for shyness sessions, you and your consulting hypnotist will teach your subconscious to react differently - with emotions that make you feel confident and happy, instead of uneasy and depressed. How do you do that?Your consulting hypnotist will put you into a dream-like state, where you will have access to your subconscious. You will be able to figure out why your subconscious is so wary of other people and social situations. The reason behind your shyness may surprise you. In fact, it's not uncommon for a person's subconscious to be affected by a minor event that they don't even remember. Consciously, the event is not even a blip on your radar today. However, to your subconscious, it's a very big deal.During this hypnotic state, you will also be very open to suggestion. That way, you can re-train your subconscious mind so that it is not afraid of people and social situations. By showing your subconscious that nothing bad will happen to you during a conversation or at a party, you can get over the fear and anxiety that's plaguing you - and become the confident person you've always dreamed of!

How to Hypnotize Someone - 3 Effective Covert Hypnosis Techniques

You want to learn how to hypnotize someone effectively. This is perfectly possible provided that you invest time and effort in learning and in practicing what you have learned. In general the success of a hypnosis practitioner depends on the number of hypnotic techniques he knows and uses. The more techniques you have up your sleeve the more flexible you are. This will allow you to influence any person to do what you want in any social situation. Here are three effective techniques that you should definitely learn and master, if you want to know how to hypnotize someone effectively.A Subliminal Confidence Boosting PatternYou know that in order to influence a person to do what you want though hypnosis, you have to show him and make him visualize the benefits the will get from doing what you want. This is generally sufficient for getting the results you want. However, sometimes the person is not willing to do what you want not because he does not want the benefits, but because he lacks confidence. In this case, you can use a confidence pattern that has a subliminal effect on the person. The pattern is very simple. You just need to show the better alternative and the worse alternative. For instance, you can say, "Do you want to be successful in your work or just another hard-working low-paid miserable employee?"This pattern is not offensive, but it certainly does motivate people to act. You should definitely use it just like those who know how to hypnotize someone do.It is best for you to use very powerful descriptive adjectives so that you can make the person see and feel the two options in his mind. Additionally, you have to have excellent rapport with the person in order to use it. In this way, you will avoid any frustration on his side.Pacing and Leading with Causes and EffectsMany novice covert hypnosis practitioners believe that pacing and leading is a very technical process that is often difficult to apply flexibly to different people in different situations. This is certainly not the case and those who know how to hypnotize someone realize it too well. You can readily pace and lead by taking an action (it could be a past one as well) and then showing a positive effect that the person wants to enjoy. This technique is really simple to grasp, so I will just give you some useful examples. You can readily say to a person, "Your effort to do X (the thing you want) will help you get/lead you to/cause you to enjoy benefit Y."You can use past events equally well to pace and lead in order to show causes and effects. You can readily say, "Now that you have done X, you can focus on doing Y which will further help you to achieve what you want."You can see how the effect in the lead part is always described along with a benefit, even if it is not the benefit itself. This is a particularly useful part of the pattern that a person who knows how to hypnotize someone will never miss.Just remember that the person has to be in a state of hypnotic trance when you pace and lead in order for this technique to produce the best possible results.Pattern Interrupts Using Selection Restriction ViolationThis is a very complex term that people who know how to hypnotize someone use. However, the idea behind the technique is very simple. You have to give non-personified objects emotions and thoughts that they express. Some examples include "Your heart tells you to stop eating fatty foods", "Your car screams it wants a repair" and "Your feet will love you for these shoes."These are extremely effective pattern interrupts that can cause considerable confusion. They are extremely effective for getting a person think about the benefits he will get from a different and perhaps more emotional perspective. The really great thing is that if you know how to hypnotize someone effectively, you can use this sort of confusion pattern for making embedded commands. For instance, you can say to a person, "Your car screams wash me."This technique is very simple, flexible and effective. Now you know how to hypnotize someone using three effective techniques. Keel expanding your knowledge to become a more successful covert hypnosis practitioner.

How To Hypnotize Women To Do What You Want

You should know that there are 2 kinds of hypnosis: clinical hypnosis which is used in order to solve mental problems, suppressed memories and so on which is performed by a clinical psychiatrist, and what is known as conversational hypnosis which basically can be performed by anyone who knows how. This article deals with conversational hypnosis and how you can use it to exert influence over women and get them to do what you want.So how can you hypnotize women? Here are some simple steps:1. Eye contact - Hypnosis isn't for the timid. Before a woman is susceptible to your influence, you need to make sure she is focused on you. The best way to do this is to maintain eye contact with her. This causes the woman to feel that she should listen to you attentively and also makes you appear confident and powerful. This will make it much easier to hypnotize any woman you want.2. Know what makes women tick - Women like confident men whom they feel they can't control. You see, women, especially beautiful ones, feel that they can control any man. If you portray yourself as a man who is out of their control, these beautiful women will be intrigued by you and instantly attracted to you. This will create an atmosphere which will help you to hypnotize beautiful women with ease.3. Learn how to listen - It's true that women like men who listen to them (or at least put on a good show to make it seem like they do), but that's not what I mean. What I mean is that in order to say the right things to hypnotize a woman and get her to do what you want, you need to know as much as you can about this woman you wish to put under your spell. So listen carefully to everything she says. It'll come in handy.4. Use conversational hypnosis power words, intonation, and phrases - Conversational hypnosis really comes into play after you create the appropriate atmosphere like you did in steps 1--3. Once you've accomplished that, you can use certain power words, phrases, as well as intonation and body language which make your appear to be confident, an authority figure, enigmatic, and highly attractive in the eye of any woman you want. In step 3 you listened to her, so the specific power words and phrases will change for each woman. However, the basic principle will remain: by using conversational hypnosis, you will be able to plant ideas and desires in the mind of any woman. Now don't expect an instant miracle, a lot of men simply want to hypnotize women for sex, and while this is entirely possible, with some women it may take longer than with others. It depends also on how well you control the art of conversational hypnosis. However, you will be able to get women who wouldn't have considered you at all by using conversational hypnosis.

Hypnotize Yourself Right Now - 10 Steps To Hypnotize Yourself Today

I want to show you a really interesting technique to hypnotize yourself. It is known as the Betty Erickson technique as she devised it to hypnotize yourself. Betty's husband Milton Erickson is someone I have referred to on several occasions in my work as a renowned hynotherapist and psychiatrist and someone whose work seems to hypnotize me all the time. This technique to hypnotize yourself is entirely attributed to her.

Hypnotize Yourself Betty Erickson Method:This method to hypnotize yourself is based on the following premises and ideologies. While there are a number of counter-examples to these notions, they will be of value in understanding and utilizing this method to hypnotize yourself. We think our thoughts in pictures, sounds and feelings. When we think in pictures we refer to the external things we see and the internal images that we create. This includes remembered images ("What does your bedroom look like?"), constructed images ("What would it look like if it were redecorated?"), as well as the actual, real things we see about us.When we think in sounds these are the things we hear and the internal sounds that we create. This includes remembered words or sounds ("Think of your favourite pop song"), imagined words or sounds ("Imagine that song being sung by someone else"), and also includes your internal dialogue as well as all of the real, actual, live sounds around us.Thirdly, are the things we feel. These can be actual physical sensations or imagined ones. Can you imagine being at the seaside and paddling in the cool sea? Most of us use one of these ways of thinking more than the others; though we each use all three of them. Since this is usually the case, an individual who "thinks" in images wouldn't hypnotize themselves the best simply by visualising.Focused Attention:Stereotypical images of hypnotists holding watches or other fixation devices for clients to stare at are the result of much misunderstanding about hypnosis. I for one have long ago banished my velveteen smoking jacket and watch on a chain for more modern methods of hypnotic induction! The experience of hypnosis is typically an inwardly focused one in which we move away from the environment around us and turn our attention inward. This technique to hypnotize yourself is doing that even more.Hypnotize Yourself Technique:Step 1: Find a comfortable position and get your self relaxed and settled. Get into a position that you will be able to maintain easily for the time you are going to hypnotize yourself. It can be sitting or lying down, though sitting is recommended to prevent you from falling asleep. Get yourself centred, just looking in front of you and breathing slowly and easily. Let yourself relax.Step 2: Think about the length of time that you intend to spend in this state and make a statement to yourself about it such as "I am going hypnotize myself for 20 minutes ... " (or however long you want) You will be delighted to discover how well you "internal clock" can keep track of the time for you.Step 3: What would you like to get out of this? Make a statement to yourself about the reason you want to hypnotize yourself. In this process, you allow your unconscious mind to work on an issue rather than giving suggestions throughout, (that is another technique) so our purpose statement should reflect that fact. Here's how I recommend you phrase it to yourself : " I am going to hypnotize myself for the purpose of allowing my unconscious mind to make the adjustments that are appropriate to assist me in _____________."Filling in the blank with what you want to achieve such as "developing more confidence in social situations." The actual words aren't nearly as important as the fact your statement acknowledges that you are turning this process over to your unconscious mind.Step 4: Looking in front of you, notice three things, one at a time, that you see. Go slowly, pausing for a moment on each. It is preferable that they be small things, such as a spot on the wall, a doorknob, the corner of a picture frame, etc. Some people like to name the items as they look at them - "I see the hinge on the door frame".Step 5: Now turn your attention to your auditory channel and notice, one by one, three things that you hear. (You will notice that this allows you to incorporate sounds that occur in the environment rather than being distracted by them.)Step 6: Next, attend to your feelings and notice three sensations that you can feel right now. Again, go slowly from one to the next. It is useful to use sensations that usually are outside of your awareness, such as the weight of your glasses, the feeling of your wrist watch, the texture of your shirt on your body, etc.Step 7: Continue the process using two Visuals, then two auditories and then two kinaesthetics. Then, in the same manner, continue (slowly) with one of each. You have now completed the "external" portion of the process to hypnotize yourself. Now it's time to begin the "internal" part.Step 8: Now close your eyes. Now, bring an image into your mind. Don't work too hard at this; this is fun, remember? You can construct an image or simply take what comes. It may be a point of light, it may be a beautiful beach, or it could be your car or an apple. I shall not scare you with the ideas that randomly pop into my mind. If something comes to you, just use it. If nothing comes, feel free to put something in your mind.Step 9: Pause and let a sound come into your awareness or generate one and name it. Although this is technically the internal part, if you should hear a sound outside or in the room with you, it is OK to use that. Remember that the idea is to incorporate things that you experience rather than being distracted by them. Typically, in the absence of environmental sounds; I often imagine hearing whooping hallelujahs from a gospel choir; don't ask me why, that just happens in my mind.Step 10: Become aware of a feeling and name it. It is preferable to do this internally - use your imagination. (I feel the warmth of the sun on my face) However, as with the auditory, if you actually have a physical sensation that gets your attention, use that.Repeat the process with two images, then two sounds, then two feelings. Repeat the cycle once again using three images, three sounds, and three feelings. Then to complete the process, open your eyes when your alloted time is up - It is not unusual to feel a little bit "spaced out" or wander off somewhat. At first some people think that they have fallen asleep. But generally you will find yourself coming back automatically at the end of the allotted time that you set before you chose to hypnotize yourself. Trust that you weren't sleeping and that your unconscious mind was doing what you asked of it.Many people don't get all the way through the process. That's perfectly all right. If you should complete the process before the time has ended, just continue with 4 images, sounds, feelings, then 5 and so on. It is a simple way of just getting you acquainted with how to hypnotize yourself.

Hypnosis for Orgasm

When we hear the word hypnosis we may think of various scenes from the movies or from television. Thoughts may be of people using hypnosis to make one act like a chicken or find a way to talk to another. These images are for your enjoyment; they are not the reality of hypnosis that has been or is as of today. Hypnosis is used to help resolve a variety of issues that people from different backgrounds may have. Hypnosis for orgasm pleasure is one particular issue that is becoming more common place.Today with television and the Internet, learning about different subjects is much easier than centuries ago. In addition, information about certain circumstances, new products or changes in our world are almost instant news that we can obtain. In addition, the human population is also increasing so the different types of issues that you may have, the probability of someone else having that same problem on the other side of the globe is rather high.Personal issues that deal with our personal bodies and sex, were once taboo. They weren't to be discussed in public or made known to others. We were to either discuss the issue with our doctor or simply deal with it. Orgasms are a natural part of sex; if one has problems having one or can't then they feel that they are lesser of a person. This can be cause one to have low self-esteem and become depressed.Another part of our natural world is relaxation of which there are many different levels, most we aren't aware of because the unknown enters into our inner self which our conscious mind doesn't communicate with very often - or that we are aware of. Hypnosis allows one to enter into that realm and communicate with the subconscious or inner self; the part perhaps many of us don't want to deal with. Our inner self is our true self which can be an ugly beast; it holds our deepest secrets, thoughts and desires. Hypnosis for orgasm in men and women helps to release that fear of why an orgasm doesn't occur and allows it to fulfill its duties. At this point, there are some medical reasons as to why one cannot have an orgasm; these would need to be discussed with your personal doctor.Hypnosis for orgasm can be performed by a qualified hypnotist, of which some may even specialize in more specific subjects that deal with sexual issues. Self hypnosis for orgasm is also possible; if you choose this avenue you will obtain scripts or create your own before your first self hypnosis session. The scripts are very important as they need to be specifically for orgasms and the specific goal that you want to accomplish.Because it is more common place for sexual dysfunctions to be diagnosed today, the use of hypnosis for orgasm or assisting with these conditions is occurring more often. Hypnosis can not only provide suggestions to help resolve the issue but it can also help the subject find out more about why they may have the orgasm problem. Hypnosis can be a useful and productive tool when used correctly and appropriately.

Hypnosis 101 - All You Need to Know About Hypnotherapy

Hypnosis during therapy will typically involve the individual experiencing a deep sense of relaxation and an enhanced state of awareness while in a trance-like state. During this time, their attention is narrowed down and focused on appropriate suggestions that the therapist makes in order to help the individuals make positive changes in themselves.Contrary to the old views of hypnosis as involving waving pendants and controlling the mind of the subject, today, a hypnotherapy session enables you to always be in control without being made to do anything. Today, all hypnosis is ultimately regarded as self-hypnosis. As such, the hypnotist is there to merely facilitate the experience and empower you by suggesting ideas, concepts and lifestyle adaptations and firmly plant these seeds in your mind. How Hypnosis WorksDuring hypnosis, your state of consciousness is altered in such a way that the analytical left-hand side of the brain is turned off, while the non-analytical right-hand side is made highly alert. As such, this technique works by inhibiting the conscious control of your mind, while awakening your subconscious mind. The subconscious mind is important here as it is the part that contains deep-seated instincts and beliefs which need to be changed and be reprogrammed in order to alter your behavior or physical state.Hypnotherapy is a kind of psychotherapy that reprograms patterns of behavior in your mind such as irrational fears, negative thoughts, phobias and suppressed emotions to enable you to overcome them. During a hypnotherapy session, your breathing will become deeper and slower; your pulse rate will drop, while your metabolic rate also slows down.Hypnotherapy Treatment MethodsDuring hypnotherapy, the patient will remain fully aware of their situation and surroundings. For it to work, the patient must want to change a behavioral habit or addiction, as well as be highly motivated to succeed. They must then establish good clinical rapport with their therapist. In order to achieve meaningful results, the patient may have to undergo several hypnotherapy sessions depending on how ready and able they are to be hypnotized. They may also learn self-hypnosis techniques and practice at home in order to reinforce the usefulness of the formal session they have with their therapist. What Does Hypnotherapy Treat?Hypnotherapy can be used to treat various emotional, psychological and physical disorders such as to relieve pain from surgery or dentistry, reduce the time taken during labor, and quicken the birthing process without requiring painkillers. It can help overcome addictions such as alcoholism and smoking as well as eating disorders such as bulimia. It is also easy to hypnotize children and help them stop wetting their beds or ease the pain of chronic asthma.Teenagers can be helped to overcome blushing and stammering which can prove to be an embarrassment. Other stress related problems can also be helped including panic attacks, insomnia and obsessive compulsive disorders, not to mention tension problems that cause irritable bowel disorder, excessive sweating and eczema.

Weight Loss Without Dieting - Hypnotherapy Gastric Band Hypnosis

You really can lose weight without endless yo yo diets and if you are clinically obese - BMI over 30 - there is hope with a virtual gastric band fitted under hypnosis - yes Hypnotherapy may be the best all round option for losing weight.I have been running two successful weight loss programs in tandem and so have had great experience of helping many people with their weight problems - both programs have at their core the same philosophies. Most people on a diet crave the things they should not be eating or after dieting and losing weight they go back to their old habits. Some of their diets may exclude certain foods - leaving an unbalanced diet that puts strain on their liver and kidneys - potentially quite dangerous.I believe it is important to get people in touch with the pleasure of eating great food and persuade them of the cost effectiveness of eating less of great quality food instead of cheaper fat sugar and salt saturated food - good nutrition really offers better bang for buck in value terms and after all you would not put paraffin in your petrol tank would you? To take that metaphor further for comfort eaters you wouldn't put fuel in the car if the oil light comes on would you? Yet the oil light is a warning something is amiss and to put chocolate in your mouth does not resolve the problems. Comfort eating resolves nothing but causes obesity. Many of these problems are associated with anxiety stress or lack of self confidence or past habits embedded by poor nutritional practices when they were growing up: "you must clear your plate" - for instance. I say better pounds in the waste bin than pounds on the waist! These problems can be addressed with Hypnotherapy - giving strategies for dealing with anxiety and stress and lack of confidence and using such techniques as regression to deal with psychological issues that may have lead to an abusive relationship with food. One lady of 21 stones came to me and once we had dealt with her bullying issues and given her nutritional advice she began to lose weight rapidly - something she had never been able to do!In addition the American Health Authority now blames much obesity on junk food - which you may as well call "junkie" food - the food has added fat sugar and salt and the taste buds become literally addicted to this stuff - if you have ever seen "Supersize me" you know how dangerous it can be especially if the balance of eating is skewed towards junk food.Another important weapon is the food diary - noting all that you eat but also when and why you eat certain foods? If obesity gets to the level of a BMI of over 30 then for some the choice is stark: they will have terrible health problems if they don't lose weight - they will have tried all the diets and pills and found them to fail because they haven't addressed all the underlying issues for overeating. They are sometimes left with the only choice of a Gastric Band - the operation can cost between £3,000 - £7,000 - in some cases the operation can be dangerous - I recently had a client who had had multiple strokes and two of them serious - for her the risks are too high.Combining good nutritional advice with learning to enjoy food properly and dealing with underlying psychological issues can lead to permanent weight loss. In addition fitting the Virtual Gastric band under hypnosis, using something like the HypnoGastricBand system, makes weight loss much more likely. The system works for most people and clients have reported that they can not only see and experience the operation without pain but that they can feel it when it is fitted. The discomfort passes rapidly and people find that they do start to eat smaller portions and, like my other weight loss clients, they eat less and exercise more and begin to enjoy food again. The gastric band operation is talked through under hypnosis and as it is keyhole surgery it is relatively simple - tying a band around the higher part of the stomach - the band can be made tighter or loosened and the golf ball sized part of the stomach made by the band means that the hypothalmus, the governor of appetite, tells you that you are full - the food then passes through normally. The hypnotic gastric band fitted under hypnosis acts the same way as a real gastric band. If you have a BMI under 30 there are also weight loss programs which do the same but omit fitting the gastric band.So consider hypnotherapy if you have tried the rest and it has failed. My experience is that for most people it is a realistic alternative.

How To Learn Hypnosis

If you want to learn how to become a hypnotist, so some would argue that hypnosis learning would be better if you have been taught by a professional hypnotist, but you will find that the hypnotists of the company will be very discreet about the job and there will not share this ability, probably because they make lots of money from there a simple technique, and also they wanted to keep the ring hypnotists small and tight so the competition is kept low.

Hypnosis has been around for many years and can be used for many different things "quiting smoking" to "sleep therapy" to "weight loss". There are many different routes to someone hypnotizing. Some things to consider as this type of person you want to be hypnotic and the environment around where you decide to hypnotize someone. Before you begin to hypnotize someone, you will need some basic equipment to create a relaxed atmosphere. Without your completely relaxed about the methods of hypnosis will not work well or not at all. Hypnotism works well when you use soft relaxing music that can be something like waves breaking on a beach or something like that. You will learn to use a soothing soft voice when you talk about you.

There are now courses available to the public, to the dismay of the professional hypnotist. They are very good and informative, usually in the form of packs of CD or download mp3 to listen at your own pace.

Stereotypical hypnotist uses a pendulum to cover the state in which the subject of hypnosis, but only to speak softly and use a soft music can be just as good influence to make someone to share day-dream state. Self-Hypnosis For Beginners

Self- hypnosis is the ability to get yourself into a very relaxed, trance-like state. Most of us experience the "hypnotic" feeling several times a day. If you have ever "lost" time while reading a great book, watching an absorbing movie, or driving down the road as you listen to music, then you have experienced the sensation of hypnosis. If you are truly motivated to change a negative behavior, bad habit, phobia, or simply want to improve something about yourself, then you are a perfect candidate for self-hypnosis. Once you learn this technique, you will be able to use it at any time, in any place. While learning this technique, you will need a quiet room where you will be undisturbed for at least 20 minutes. Make sure you are comfortable, but not so comfortable that you fall asleep. Since you need to give yourself instructions and suggestions, you need to be awake and alert, but in an altered state of consciousness. Before you begin the process, think about what you hope to achieve. This goal will be the suggestion you state to yourself when you are in a relaxed state. Work this out ahead of time. Be very specific, such as, "I want to stop eating Snickers," or "I want to feel comfortable speaking in public." Whatever you choose, you must express the suggestion in positive terms. For example, "I am a non-smoker," rather than, "I do not want to smoke."In the beginning, you should try to practice this routine at least twice a day in the privacy of your home. Once you have the knack, try it in a movie theater, a restaurant, or in some other public place. But, do not ever practice this procedure while driving or operating any kind of heavy equipment.10 Steps to Self-Hypnosis:Allow a minimum of 20 minutes of uninterrupted time.

Make sure the room is not too hot or cold, and that it is not too bright.

Sit or recline in a comfortable chair. Set a timer or clock for 30 minutes (just in case you fall asleep).

Decide on a simple term, such as "relax" or "calm," to trigger a post-hypnotic suggestion.

Close your eyes and take a deep breath in through your nose, hold it to the count of three, then whoosh it out through your mouth. Do this five times. Count backwards from five to one as you do this exercise.

Your body will start to relax immediately. To deepen this phase, count back from ten to one as you visualize yourself walking down a flight of stairs.

Imagine yourself, as vividly as possible, in one of your favorite places. Focus on it as you continue to breathe deeply.

As you envision yourself in this place, allow all your senses to come to life. See the scene, feel it, taste it, smell it, touch it.

Once you have this scene firmly in your mind, think the words of the suggestion you decided upon. Again, remember to present it in a positive way. If your suggestion is to be a non-smoker, see yourself clearly in a group situation where you are comfortable, happy, confident, and a non-smoker.

When you see the image and feel the strength of your conviction, you are ready to "think" the word you chose as your post-hypnotic suggestion. Then state the suggestion as simply as this: "The next time I hypnotize myself, I will use the word, 'calm,' and I will feel instantly and deeply relaxed." Once this suggestion is planted in your mind, count from one to five and slowly awaken. By the count of five, you will be fully awake and energized. The more you practice these steps, the more adept you will become at mastering self-hypnosis. Of course, this is just a very basic technique for beginners. If you want to learn more about this fascinating subject, you can read a book, take a course, or have a certified hypnotherapist teach you the method. If you want to attain self-hypnosis quickly, you can listen to a professional CD, tape, or MP3 download. The key to a successful self-hypnosis session is to be as clear as possible about your specific goal. If you are truly motivated, you will have a valuable tool to use throughout your life.

Hypnotherapy and Hypnosis

Most people at one time or another show an interest in Hypnosis/Hypnotherapy, whether it stems from those telly experts like Paul McKenna or Derren Brown sparking their interest with their amazing skills or there is something in their lives they want to tackle/solve/change.So what is hypnosis? Put simply it is a state of mind, a trance like state (enhanced relaxation of ones brain waves/altered state of mind) leading to a state of hyper-suggestibility, enabling our sub-concious mind to communicate with our conscious mind. Hypnotherapists like myself are then able to help give positive suggestions or alternatives to help with ones problems. This state is a perfectly normal state that just about everyone experiences, a kind of auto pilot which you can liken to going to the supermarket and doing your shopping, getting to the check out and not knowing how you got there. Similarly, walking the dog round the block and getting home not realising the time it took. (Natural hypnotic state). This natural state exist when a person is deeply focused on something blocking everything else out.It is important to realise that hypnosis is not dangerous and a hypnotherapist would never be able to suggest anything against a persons own moral, social or religous values. Hypnosis along with hypnotic suggestions and its uses can be traced back thousand of years and has been used in one form or another to help people change habits, tackle fear/phobias, stop habitual behaviour, overcome emotional problems, PTSD and a lot more of life's daily problems.According to the World Health Organization, 90% of the general population can be hypnotized. Some say only the insane can not be hypnotised, however, people who have experienced psychosis, epilepsy, depressive illness and indeed some breathing problems would find it contra-indicative.

Hypnosis for Feelings of Abandonment

Fear of abandonment is a serious issue that affects people young and old, men and women. Luckily, fear of abandonment can be overcome with hypnosis. But how do you know if hypnosis can help you?- Are you terrified that you are going to be left all alone to deal with the trials and tribulations of life?

- Are you convinced that anyone who is close to you will simply pick up and leave one day?If so, it can lead to real-life relationship problems. It's a vicious cycle; you are so convinced that your loved ones are going to leave that you start acting clingy, desperate, and needy. Most people will not deal with that type of behavior for long, so they wind up leaving because of it. To you, it's proof that your fears were justified. As a result of their abandonment issues, many people develop a fear of intimacy or a fear of rejection. To them, trying to develop relationships is far too scary - because the other person will simply leave one day, anyway. So, how can hypnosis help?Fear of abandonment hypnosis, fear of rejection hypnosis, and fear of intimacy hypnosis all focus on the same thing - addressing your problem at its root.During your hypnotherapy session, you will delve deep into your past to see if something in it is the reason for your fear. Oftentimes, an event in childhood - like a death in the family or a best friend who had to move away - is the cause. Why would that affect you today?Your subconscious mind keeps track of everything you have ever experienced. If those memories get exaggerated over time - or if the facts surrounding them get twisted around - it can lead to a fear of abandonment, along with rejection and intimacy issues. In fact, your subconscious mind is so particular that something incredibly minor - like the day your mom forgot to pick you up at a friend's house - can get blown out of proportion and cause serious abandonment issues, even if you don't remember the specific incident! If you can schedule a hypnosis session that addresses fear of abandonment you will likely learn what's triggering your problem and work around it.How?Hypnotherapy is designed to re-train your subconscious so that it evaluates each relationship differently. Your subconscious will learn that just because your best friend moved away when you were 5-years-old, doesn't mean that everyone who's close to you will eventually leave.During a hypnosis session, you might also teach your subconscious to understand that it's not your fault when people do have to leave. For example, if you can teach your subconscious that you were not the reason that your best friend moved away, you will no longer feel obligated to hold people close by acting clingy.

How to Hypnotize Yourself Instantly

Perhaps you are not overly comfortable with seeing a hypnotherapist in person or over the phone to discuss your problem, or how you want to change your life. More and more people are learning self hypnosis now, because they are seeing that in order to change their lives, they must first work on their inner minds. Our minds, thoughts and beliefs affect every action in our lives, so why not try to change the mind in the comfort of your own home.Or, maybe you are just learning self hypnosis for fun, and also want to hypnotize your friends, family or even strangers. Whichever route you take, you will find hypnosis to be engaging, fun, enlightening and empowering. What do you need to first learn hypnosis skills or perform hypnosis party tricks? Just you. That is the only tool you need. You are going to first learn how to put yourself into trance. This is just another word for deep relaxation. This is where you can insert new suggestions, beliefs and visualizations so your mind can accept them as true. For example, when you reach this state of relaxation you will tell yourself that you love eating health (like an affirmation), visualizing yourself eating good, nutritious foods, exercising, etc. Your brain will accept these as true beliefs of yourself, making you more likely to perform these actions in your everyday life.1. Close your eyes and take a deep breath.

By closing your eyes, you send a signal to your brain that you are ready to go within. This is a learned signal that you have repeated, over and over again, to your mind when you go to sleep at night. You close your eyes so you can sleep and go within (dream). Also, by taking a deep breath in, and a deep breath out, you start relaxing your body and your mind (and relaxation is key!).2. Relaxation is Key!

By relaxing your body, you relax your mind, which opens your brain and makes it more receptive to suggestions. This is often called a hypnotic induction, or hypnosis induction, and many, many exist. Try relaxing your body by focusing on your breathing. Taking deep breaths in through your nose, and full breaths out through your mouth. You can also imagine every muscle in your body completely relaxing, from the top of your head, to the bottom of your toes. Or, you can do it the opposite way. It really doesn't matter. Just as long as you relax.3. Once you are done relaxing, you find yourself in trance.

Once your mind arrives in that trance state, you may not feel any different than before you started. You may feel more relaxed and at ease, but you aren't going to hear any strange sounds, or experience any vivid hallucinations that can only be achieved through psychosomatic drugs. Don't worry! Just because you only feel "relaxed", doesn't mean you are not in a trance state. A trance is just another word for relaxation, and once you are relaxed, you are in trance. Now you have come to the point in the session to place suggestions in your subconscious mind. Change occurs at a very deep level here, so it is important that you accompany these suggestions with intense visualizations. This is where a therapist or a self hypnosis program will make it easier, as doing it all in your head may get you lost. However, if you find yourself drifting off, just wake yourself up by counting backwards from 5 to 1, and opening your eyes. You can try again later. Practice makes perfect!Self hypnosis is easy to learn, and you will get a hang of it in no time. It is a blissful experience, and you don't always have to be working on a problem in your subconscious mind. Sometimes there are "hypnosis party tricks" that you can do on others, or on yourself, to tighten eyelids, float arms and make body parts itch. This tool can be fun, spiritual and empowering, and it's now time for you to try it for yourself!

Self Hypnosis for Musicians

Perhaps you are interested in using hypnosis to help you achieve the goals you have set for yourself, or perhaps you are just curious and interested to learn more. If you are thinking of trying some of the many hypnosis products that are out there but find yourself being skeptical, or even nervous, about what happens in hypnosis then read on.Firstly What is Hypnosis?Hypnosis is a state of mind we have all experienced before. It is a naturally occurring state between wakefulness and sleep. Scientists will tell you that your brainwave pattern will be in the Theta-band (as opposed to Beta, which is wide awake, and Delta which is asleep), but as far as you are concerned it is best described as being in a daydream, or 'trance' if you like. There are lots of examples of everyday trances - here are a few:o When you day-dream you are in a light trance - you'll remember that detached feeling you had at school when you gazed out of the window in a really boring Geography lesson.o When your eyes are fixed on the flames in a log fire after a long day. You wont even feel like blinking.o When you are 'glazing over' during a conversation with someone really boring and then having to appologise: "Sorry, I was miles away. What was that you were saying?" You are 'there-but-not-there'.In each of the above examples you will be momentarily focussed on one thing - it might be the shape of a cloud in the sky, the flickering flames, or the mole on the guy's chin - for a few moments your mind filters everything else out, except this one thing, whatever it may be. This filtering phenomena is the key to understanding trance and we will learn more about it later.Imagine you are at the movies. The film is fantastic, its exciting, exhilarating, emotional, terrifying... Why? It's only a projection on a screen. The more focussed on the film you are, the more the fact that it is a projection on a cinema screen is kept at an unconscious level. Pretty soon you become so caught up in the story that you are 'entranced' by the film. All the emotional content of the film is going straight to your unconscious mind without being vetted by your conscious mind. You believe it, you laugh and you cry. Lots of things will be kept at the unconscious level. The smell of stale pop corn will still be there, but that filter mechanism will decide not to trouble your conscious mind with such a trivial bit of sensory information. And it doesn't stop there. For the duration of the film all those niggling worries about money, relationships or work will be kept at bay - and what a relief it is! Some people call it 'escapism' - I call it trance. If its a good enough film you will even filter out pain or discomfort - that's analgesia. I expect in the really exciting bits of a film you have had your hand freeze half way between the bag and your mouth, this is 'catalepsy'. These are both scientifically recognised states found in profound hypnosis - and here we are experiencing them in the cinema on a Saturday night! Trance really is an everyday occurrence - and one we can use to great benefit. So, you are in the cinema watching the film and you are totally absorbed. Your brain is still monitoring your surroundings, but it is not sending this information to your conscious mind. Your unconscious mind, however, is still acknowledging everything. If the smell of pop corn was to change to the smell of burning, your unconscious would sense the possible emergency and break you out of your trance. Your unconscious mind is your guardian angel - it keeps a constant vigil, day and night, protecting you from danger and keeping you safe. Many people can sleep through violent thunder storms because the unconscious mind knows that, although noisy, it is not a threat. Therefore it choses not to send the information to your conscious mind and wake you up!It is this filtering process in the brain which is the key to understanding Hypnosis. Using the guidance of a skillful hypnotherapist, or the voice on a CD, you can deepen this daydream state. So the next question is:How is this trance state useful? When you are in trance you can communicate with your unconscious mind. And why would I want to do that, I hear you ask. Well, firstly lets really define what the unconscious (or as some people would call it: 'subconscious') mind actually is:You have probably heard statements like: we only use 5 percent of our brains. Well, if that were the case why is it the size that it is? Obviously the rest of the brain is still being used for something. It might be safer to say that our conscious mind only uses 5 % of our brain. Perhaps our unconscious mind uses the other 95%.Now, think of all the things you never think about: Breathing, pulse rate, sweating, growing, healing, digesting, blinking, even waking up in the morning. The subconscious mind looks after all of this for you, and loads more. There are millions of things right now that you might not be conscious of until I mention them: like the feeling of the back of the chair on your shoulders, the sound of the fan in your computer, the memory of your first bicycle... As I mentioned them to you your brain's filter diverted the information to your consciousness. Your brain monitors the sum total of everything that you are experiencing and only sends the important, relevant information to you, your conscious mind. The conscious mind can handle about seven bits of information at a time; the unconscious mind handles millions of bits of information every second. Here are some examples:o Imagine you are in a crowded room where everyone is chatting away creating a hubbub of noise. If someone in the room starts taking about you and mentions your name, your filter will pick that out of the noise and alert you to it.o You are scanning through a broadsheet newspaper and suddenly you just know that you saw the name 'Britney' somewhere on the page. "I saw it there somewhere... I just know I did..." You then have to spend ten minutes trying to find it. Your unconscious takes in the whole page using your peripheral vision and will filter out the relevant bits and send the information to your conscious mind. Your brain is, at this very moment taking in a staggering amount of information. If you were aware of all of it, with no filter in place, it would be like trying to listen to a thousand different radio stations at once! Thank goodness we only use 5% of our brains!Your subconscious also stores your emotions. And I'm sure you already know how difficult it can be to over-ride emotions. The subconscious always wins. Walk across a plank spanning 2 tall buildings and your emotions will very quickly present themselves to you, even though your conscious mind knows you are perfectly capable of walking in a straight line. Similarly, if you have been nervous for an audition or performance before, you probably subconsciously believe that you will be again next time. This we can change using hypnosis. Wouldn't it be fantastic to go into any performance situation feeling confident and in control? And so long as you prepare properly there is no reason why you shouldn't. We just need to over-write some self-limiting beliefs with some empowering new ones. And this is when we do it - when we are in trance. If the brain's filter mechanism focuses on just one thing (could be your breathing, or a sensation, or a thought, all the other sensory information that is being monitored by your brain is not being forwarded to your consciousness - including the suggestions given to you in hypnosis. Your brain, amazing bit of kit that it is, still 'hears' the words - it just does not see the point of alerting your conscious mind to them. It hears the suggestions, thinks "Hmmm, I like the sound of that", and accommodates it into your new beliefs and habits. Now you would be forgiven for thinking that that you could go around hypnotizing people to give you all their money, or get them to tell their boss that he is an Orang-Utang, but fortunately the unconscious mind has another function: it is your very own guardian angel. It will under no circumstances accept any suggestions that are potentially harmful or against your code of ethics. It's such a shame that Hollywood has misunderstood hypnosis and portrayed it so woefully in-accurately. You cant be brainwashed, you cant get stuck in trance forever and you will not quack like a duck unless that is something that you really want to do.What happens in a hypnosis session:o 1) The induction. This talks you down into a deeply relaxed state. When the body relaxes, so too does the mind. You experience a tranquil peacefulness - your mind balanced between being awake and asleep, but still 100% aware. You'll perhaps know that your nose itches, but you cant be bothered to move your hand to scratch it. Just 2 or 3 minutes in this trance state can be as refreshing as a two hour nap!o 2) Next the suggestions go in. "I feel confident", "I exude a powerful stage presence" and so on and so forth. When using commercial hypnosis CDs and tapes, there are often multiple suggestions coming from both sides of the stereo image. The conscious mind will only be able to track one or two sentences at a time, leaving the third to slip through to the unconscious 'under the radar' so to speak. With some CDs 'subliminal' suggestions are recorded very faintly in the background - you cannot hear them 'consciously' but many believe that the unconscious mind will pick them up and act upon them. I personally believe that there has to be some evidence that these subliminal suggestions are actually there. You do not need to catch every syllable of a sentence to understand its meaning and if a CD has faint voices buried in the mix, I believe that the unconscious is acute enough to home in on these suggestions and act upon them.o 3) Finally the Wake-up. Since you are not asleep 'wake-up' is completely the wrong term. I prefer 'outro' (the opposite of 'intro') myself. Here there are often extra suggestions to the effect that you'll find it even easier to go into trance the next time, or that you'll be able to go deeper. Then there will be some kind of command to return to the normal waking state. This is often a 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. If you find you really drift off very deeply during the hypnosis session you might only hear the last couple of numbers. This is a good indication of a deep trance. If you were very tired when you started the session you might actually drift off to sleep. The suggestions wont be as effective, so try choosing a less comfortable chair and time your session when you have more energy. In fact, if you suffer from insomnia just leave the outro off the play list!As well as suggestions, you can also use guided visualizations during trance. This is phenomenally effective. Sports men and women have been using this technique for years, but we can all do it. The Cosmetic Surgeon and Psychologist Maxwell Maltz was the first to understand that the brain cannot tell the difference between a real action and a vividly imagined action. Think about that for a moment. Your intellectual, rational conscious mind knows the difference, but your unconscious mind doesn't. When you are not conscious, you're asleep... and when you are asleep you vividly imagine things, don't you? Yes you do, it's called dreaming! And don't dreams feel one hundred percent real at the time? I call it real-virtual-reality! It's true: the brain cannot tell the difference between a real action and a vividly imagined action. So, if we vividly imagine feeling alert, enthusiastic and confident as we play a few dozen times, then when we perform for real - the brain thinks, "OK, here we go again, I've experienced this before", and you'll find yourself feeling alert, enthusiastic and confident - just like you imagined. The only rules are that you have to make the visualisation as real as you possibly can, and as often as you possibly can.Sadly we have all been the victim of negative visualisation! In a recording session 20 seconds before the end of the take, the musician might screw up because he had 'seen him/herself' screwing up. They get more and more tense as the take rolls on all the time thinking "I bet you I miss that twiddly bit in the coda". Sure enough, they do. Negative visualisation is just as effective as positive visualisation. Using hypnosis we can turn that around. But where did we learn to be so down on ourselves? Humans only have two innate fears: sudden loud noises and the fear of falling. All other fears are learnt, which implies that someone taught us or that we have taught ourselves. Perhaps your teacher at school was a bad communicator and you did not achieve very much - you might then be of the opinion that you were not very talented. Often when we were children our teachers only told us what to learn and not how to learn. With the right learning strategy we might have achieved much much more, instead we have mentally rubber-stamped 'mathematics', for instance, as being difficult. Stage-fright has to be learnt. As youngsters if we are not prepared for performing in front of an audience, we are like a rabbit in the headlights - petrified. A one-off negative emotion like this can be enough to trigger the same reaction every time you perform. The situation triggers the memory, and it does not seem to matter how deeply the memory might be buried in your unconscious, you might not remember the experience consciously at all, the reaction is the same - racing pulse, knotted stomach, sweaty hands - all classic fight or flight responses, all inappropriate, and all preventing us from playing at our best. Imagine having the stage presence of Mick Jagger or the confidence of Buddy Rich, the command of Yasha Heifitz or the focus of John Coltrane. Well why not? You just need to take a few steps toward re-programming your unconscious. It wont replace the need for practise, but often it is not our physical abilities that let us down, it is our mental state. We can all play like gods in our bedroom, but on stage in front of a couple of thousand people it is not so easy!Hypnosis changes the irrational beliefs we have about ourselves and all of a sudden we break through the blockages that have been there for years. The key is in the imagination and the ability to enter that perfect mental state for learning - ie trance, be it light trance or deep.

Want to Understand Hypnosis Hypnotherapy Studies Will Help

Hypnosis and hypnotherapy are techniques that are used to affect some sort of change in the behavior, thinking or feeling of another person (or yourself, if you are doing self hypnosis). Hypnotherapy works by beginning with a hypnotic induction, in which you use visualization techniques to bring someone into a hypnotic trance. Some ways to induce a person include using the staircase method in which you count backward from ten and imagine yourself walking down ten step of a staircase until you reach a feather bed at the end in which you imagine falling deeply, going into a completely relaxed state of being. There are other ways to use induction in hypnosis.Hypnotherapy can be used to manage many different conditions and states of being. For example, hypnosis or hypnotherapy can be used to treat phobias to water, to heights, to animals or to other things. The client is put into a hypnotic state using the above induction techniques until they are calm and relaxed. They then will receive suggestions from the hypnotherapist such as "I am unafraid of water" or "I am no longer afraid of dogs" or "Water doesn't bother you anymore". These suggestions are embraced by the brain and can affect change in the individual's thinking, behavior or mood. When dealing with medical hypnosis, hypnotherapy can be directed toward pain management of both chronic and acute pain. It has been used for surgical pain management by using brief hypnosis after the surgery has taken place or before surgery, using a post hypnotic suggestion that the individual will feel the pain in a blunted fashion when they wake up from surgery. It can also be used in chronic pain, like cancer pain or the pain of arthritis or irritable bowel syndrome. Hypnosis/hypnotherapy can help the person cope well with chronic pain and not be as bothered by pain anymore.Speaking of medical hypnosis, hypnotherapy has been used for conditions like smoking addictions and food addictions. Many see a hypnotherapist for one of these two conditions. The subject is placed into a hypnotic trance and then is given suggestions like "I am no longer addicted to nicotine" or "I am a nonsmoker now" or "I can avoid sweets at all times". These statements seem innocuous enough but when spoken during a hypnotic trance, they affect change within the brain so that the person changes the way he or she perceives whatever they are addicted to..With hypnosis or hypnotherapy, the individual can engage in self hypnosis. This is where you put yourself into a hypnotic trance and speak whatever suggestions seem to work for you.

Feminizing Hypnosis For The Woman In You

If you want to transform yourself both mentally, emotionally and physically, then feminizing hypnoisis may be for you. Feminizing hypnosis is a safe and effective tool that allows you to become the woman you always dreamed you would be. Not only can the art of feminizing hypnosis make your look and feel like a woman, it can also make you fit into the daily situations in your life. It does not matter if you are a transvestite, transsexual or transgender, feminizing hypnosis can help you all.One of the basic human needs is feeling recognized and accepted by our society. Therefore, it is very important that you have to look and feel like a woman if you are to fit in and gain acceptance. Because deep down, a woman is what you are even though you may have been viewed as a man for many years. In the blink of an eye, most people would have made their mind up about who you are and you would have left a first impression. Your emotional make-up that consist of you thoughts and emotions are not visible to other during that quick second when first impressions are formed. You may think that those internal feeling and emotions all come from the inside, however this is not the case. They are influenced by the outside influences that you interact with to a great extent. This means that all those times you have been teased and others have created a negative image of you, your sub-conscious mind will have created a negative image of yourself. After a while, the body will follow the negative lead of your mind and therefore conform to the negative image. Ultimately, this will lead to a total loss of self-confidence and potentially bouts of various forms of depression. Now for the key solution. You should not expect other people to change their attitudes and opinions about you until you have changed the opinion you have of yourself. This is what is referred to as your self image. What this means is that you have to learn a way to disconnect from all of the negativity coming from other and rather focus on the positivity you create inside yourself. Self-hypnosis can help you achieve this and transform your mind, your body and ultimately your self confidence. This is done by placing positive thoughts and images deep in your mind which will eventually change your brains' programming and your perception of what you see in the mirror every day.Self hypnosis works so well for so many people because it provides you with total control over your body and the way you view it, on both a physical and emotional level. Where even drugs don't do the trick, self hypnosis can help. You are influenced by what you see, hear and feel. Therefore we have to create positive inputs and affirmations using all of those pathways to your brain. You can say you affirmations out loud, you can create the desired picture of yourself in your minds eye and you can create the feeling you want, just by thinking about it the right way. Through repetition of these suggestions to your sub-conscious it will adopt these ideas as reality and thereby change your body and your beliefs to fit in.Not only will your body change on the outside. On the inside you will start producing increased levels of feminine hormones resulting in a feminine looking body. You may be thinking right now that the same results may be achieved through HRT or surgery, however this is not the case. These will only address the physical part of your body, but the inappropriate emotional thought patterns will still remain. This is why self hypnosis has been and continues to be the safest and most effective way to truly becoming the woman you have always wanted.

How to Hypnotize Someone

If you want to learn how to hypnotize someone, it's probably better to learn from a hypnotist to work, if possible. Some hypnotists are reluctant to reveal their techniques, both because they can make money from a very simple secret, and because they prefer their "club" of hypnotists stay small and exclusive.

If you want to learn how to hypnotize someone in particular, you should be aware that it is believed that some people very literal-minded or skeptical can not be hypnotized and hypnotists Many also believe that no one can be hypnotized against his will. It is still a matter of negotiation. Also, people vary in their level of "suggestibility" - that is their natural tendency to go along with any suggestions or instructions. A very assertive person with a big ego can be a difficult subject, while a cloud or an enthusiastic person will be easy. But we do not think the intelligence, sex or age of the subject make any difference in their susceptibility to hypnosis.

Recently, the techniques of hypnosis have become more known, and if you want to learn how to hypnotize someone, you should find another.

First, that test how "influence" they are. To test the suggestion, you can ask someone to roll his eyes up as far as they can. Over the colored part of the eye is visible, the more they will be hypnotized. Or you can ask them to look a little light in a dark room. You pretend to move it, and ask them if it moves now. Those who were quick to say "yes" will be easy to hypnotize.

You need a sound quiet, safe, without threats, without distractions, like music or television.

You ask to close his eyes. Allow a short silent period for the subject to become calm and relaxed.

You begin to talk quietly in a way reassuring.

They are asked to do something simple, such as lifting a finger slowly and over again.

Remember that your goal as a hypnotist is to have a very relaxed to be indifferent to their surroundings (sometimes this condition is compared to being in a state of extreme concentration), whose focus is on you and what you say or tell them to do. This was compared with the subject in a movie theater, enjoying the movie and be completely indifferent to others in the audience around them.

Has reached a sensitive mode using a sweet, simple instructions, you can try to "take control" in action. Although it can be an easy target to change their position, Blink, imagine a mosquito buzzing around, or raise or lower the gun, it's much harder to make the subject the feeling of being immobilized by the whole body, or who are 9 years back, and you want a cookie, or you can fly like Superman, or you have forgotten your name! But you can!

The secret of how to hypnotize someone really this is the case to proceed very slowly at first, the demand for an easy, gentle movements, then asks simple answers, before moving on to more extreme behavior or actions. Never think of "mind control" - the goal is simply to respond to your suggestions.

What is Hypnosis?

Before anyone experiences hypnosis and starts using to make changes beautiful, beneficial in your life, this article is designed to answer some questions that perhaps you may have and dispel some myths and misconceptions about hypnosis.

You know, I still meet people who believe know that hypnosis is like being unconscious. I always say, "What would be the point of money? Expense and time to be oblivious to anyone other company? If I wanted you to be unconscious, we would simply bash you over the head "So it is important that you also know that hypnosis is not to be unconscious, and you have correct expectations about the hypnotic experience you want, you must choose to invest in one of our products or hypnosis for yourself the experience even a hypnotist.

To understand hypnosis, it is important to understand and distinguish our minds. With this I want to talk to our conscious mind, where we are now, and just below the level of awareness is our unconscious mind (also known as the subconscious mind, because they are easy to understand the same thing).

The conscious mind is where we usually spend most of our waking hours, you know that the internal dialogue, we must think "Hmm, what shoes I wear today" is your conscious mind. Your conscious mind is essentially four things;

First of all, your conscious mind analysis. What is this? Well, it's part of us that look at the problems, analyze them and try to create solutions to these problems. It 'part of us that makes decisions all day every day ", I open the door?", "Do I need to eat," even though they are automatic behaviors that we make a conscious choice or not to do these things.

The second part of our conscious mind is our purpose, that part of us that, especially in Western cultures, have always to know "why" things and "why" we behave in certain ways. This can give us so many problems that we give all the problems of growing confidence and power. More conventional approaches and traditional counseling or psychotherapy is often very busy looking at the causes of our problems and it is my opinion that all this tells us the "why" they are opposed to giving us the skills needed to change habits and undesirable behavior. The more we think about "why" we do things the more we seem to integrate the undesirable behavior in our psyche!

The third part of our conscious mind is the will, the determination of teeth that many of us are proud to demonstrate. How many times have we used our power alone will be to make changes and found that only weakens our power and the change is temporary or nonexistent.

The last part of the conscious mind is your short-term memory. By that I mean things that you need to remember feature a daily basis, so that when the phone rings you answer it and ask him not to look, or cross the street without a hit.

It is the conscious part of your mind, it is logical, rational and analytical, a little like Mr. Spock from the Start Trek series and as it pains me to say, our conscious mind are often wrong about things.

Your conscious mind is anywhere which states at once. I'm sure you were in a very busy and noisy environment like a restaurant or a bar and a conversation with another person, and all the sounds around you just seem to blend into the background. Then someone else ten meters can score his sentences with his name and will treat it as if it had been sent to you. This shows that the subconscious is his knowledge of many, a lot of information every second of your life, sounds, colors, thoughts, etc, but his conscious mind to focus on what is relevant or appropriate for you at this time .

If you notice that the item inside and yourself and not from the outside world, they begin to realize your inner self, your unconscious, which is the part of you that we work with hypnosis.

Your subconscious is very powerful and automated behavior so much as she can not think about it. For example, there was a time in your life when you had to demonstrate how to tie shoelaces, and focused on doing this. I suspect that at this stage of your life that you know how to tie their great and not even think about doing it, just do it. I have an aunt lonely as a child, my mother asked me over the phone on a weekly basis, as she thought she pleases and I vividly remember your audience to light a cigarette and exhaling smoke heavily while on the phone, even think about what he did, has been associated with smoking on the phone.

We machine learning disabilities, and learned behaviors and habits and our unconscious mind to automate them and autopilot so you do not have to worry about them.

Your subconscious mind has in it all your long-term memory. Almost every blade of grass that you saw in your whole life is tucked away in your long-term memory that serves as a great storage center. These memories affect us in different ways, some more than others. Sometimes, our ability to remember it is not as fluid as we need, because it is often not necessary to have all of our memory at the forefront of our minds. For example, you are right now is unlikely to think about what happened to you on your last birthday, but I just mentioned, you can delve into your unconscious, long-term memory and recall.

Another example: If you have never seen a stand up comedy. We look at the actor and laugh (or not as the case may be!) Well my heart that you listen to lots and lots of jokes. Then when you leave the site, you can remember any of them, or one or two at best! Then a week later, a friend who said "Do you remember this or that joke that the comedian last week" and think "Oh yeeeaaah" as you pass this information on your long-term memory. You know that you know the joke, which was not only at the forefront of your conscious mind, which was hidden in the deepest unconscious.

Your unconscious mind knows more about you than you consciously know. It seems confused? Well, just think, you're breathing, your heart beats (toivon!) You have to digest, your body regulates its body temperature, makes a number of great things, and you do not have to think consciously about it. Not sitting around thinking "I really need to remember to breathe." We are not machines, not the intelligence of us, who knows how to do these things, and the fact that the intelligence that we make with hypnosis.

Your subconscious is where you get your intuition, instinct and intuition communicates with you sporadically, from time to time. Like when sometimes someone can say all the right words for you, but you get a different feeling about them.

Your subconscious mind is a bit 'like a computer. All life is programmed with all the experiences, relationships, interpretations of the world, influences and all this culminated in the performance of computer programming. Hypnosis is just a way to use the computer and updating that programming so that it becomes instinctive and intuitive, you can make changes to please you.

Your subconscious mind is a place where emotions and behavior exists and is a part of you, we work with hypnosis. Hypnosis is a way for us to go beyond the conscious mind and unconscious mind to make powerful and profound changes.

Now I'm sure they have experienced natural trance states many times before, in fact, I know. For example, when they went in a car and thought to yourself "oh, how did I get here?" or when reading a book and has turned the page and thought, "I have no idea what I read, I'll have to read it again." I remember in school my history teacher taught me, but my mind was thousands of miles with the hope that I was doing something else. All common experiences such as daydreaming states that we all experience several times a day. The only difference between these states of nature and its use in therapeutic hypnosis is that hypnosis is intended to enter the state you are in control of him and he is like a slightly amplified version of the state more. That's it.

Sometimes it's just like sitting in a chair with eyes closed, not a magical, mysterious or unusual experience, that some people are led to believe.

It 'important to know that you can not do anything that you do not want to do. Very important. I was the guy who referred to a doctor for me, came up to me and said: "My doctor told me to come and see, as I have emphysema and am about to die unless you stop smoking" . I said, well I think you want to stop, he said, "Oh no, I love the smoke, is one of the few remaining pleasures." I had to send him away, because I can not make him do something he does not want. Can you imagine if I could do it! Wow. I could go see the bank manager and get him to give me a million pounds, with no return! Have you ever read "the bad hypnotists" to get people to rob banks or something absurd, because it can not be done.

Usually people tell me "ok Adam, I hear and understand what you say and it all makes sense." But I have seen stage hypnosis and seen people dancing like chickens, you tell me they want to? "I tell these people are not made to do things they do not want to.

When someone buys tickets for a show of stage hypnosis, they are yielding to the opinion they get to experience hypnosis for entertainment, they expect certain things from happening. Second, when the hypnotist asks the audience "who wants to come on stage" people who agree to do so or put your hands and say, "Yes, I want to be hypnotized," is not made to do something they do not want to. The hypnotist ensures that people are sensitive about the show and follow many years of compliance and he begins to create the illusion that these people do things they do not want to do when they are not. Hypnosis can step over the inhibitions of the conscious mind so that people show more openness, they can not be done to make things they do not want to do.

Anyone can be hypnotized. I work with insomniacs, heroin addicts, schizophrenics, people experiencing chemotherapy, these are all people who are often convinced that they can not relax or can not be hypnotized, and as long as they want, they can all, and they all do.

All that is required is that you have an open mind, wait for the job and is a progressive, reasoned thought processes, track sessions, and let them help you help to make the changes you want and deserve.

Finally, at the beginning of the hypnosis sessions recorded and / or individual NLP or hypnosis sessions with me (I can not speak for other therapists, we all do things differently) individually, you may be asked to perform a series of different things with your mind and can be forgiven for thinking: "Well, he asked me to do that, and now something else, and now something else, which supposed to be listening?" The simple answer is to listen and follow both or as little as you want, remember that your conscious mind to think these thoughts and not part of you that we work with and change with it. I'm sure there will be times when you think "Hmmm ... I'm in hypnosis, which means I have to be thinking or feeling." Again that is your conscious thought and the thought that no matter what you think.

This may be trying to follow everything I say or just walk away and think about what you want, just trust your unconscious absorbs everything you want.

There will be times in sessions, can be asked to imagine things. Imagining things should not be labeled for visualization. If I ask you to think about a favorite place, you can imagine what it would be like, you do not need to see a picture of a beautiful film version of this in your mind. One can imagine, the sense, I think, or simply do not know without seeing or imagining in every detail. If I asked you to imagine the sound your feet make when walking on gravel, you know the sound I'm talking about, and you can imagine, but can only be heard in the ears, you can imagine. It has everything you need.

Thus, hypnosis is not unconscious as it is almost like having more attention that it requires you to want to change, have an open mind and positive, as you can and let whatever happens happen, without try to understand what you think will happen, just let him pass.

I wish you all the best with any product hypnosis, or counseling sessions that you plan to have with any qualified therapist or program that you plan to attend, and I just know of having come this far, you really can do it and make the changes you want to do with hypnosis.
